Darker, like hazy iced tea. Clean mild fresh nose. Taste is strong and big. A little punch in the nose, but not yer face. You know, just a nudge on the chin. You can tell this is a big beer, it doesn't try to hide what it is. However, for 8%, its fairly well to take. Not wee heavy, just heavy, heheh.

Very dark brown for an amber beer. Mild nose of wet hay. First taste is that its quite mild for an amber above 5%. Well behaved, almost fun. Yes, friendly and civilized. Probably one of the better amber ales I've come across over the years. Yes, right up there with Frankenmuth Old Detroit Amber Ale, North Peak Siren Amber Ale, Olde Main Long Face Amber & Atlanta Laughing Skull Amber Ale (2009 - present)

Slight farmy nose, like a barn. Taste at first is typical friendly dunkel, then a little bit of astringent bitter bite settles in. It never lets you forget its a beer, in the middle, and clear to the end. Wet grassy finish.

Tap source. Amber eye, like iced tea. Nice clean smell, no hint of spices on the nose. First taste reveals somewhat farmy manure attributes, in a good way. Not much spice, but its there. Such an odd background flavor. Unique, even for a holiday brew.

Bottle. Smells a little malty and palate follows; malty and smooth. However, just a tad of that astringent bitter bite hiding in the background. Overall, quite mild and acceptable down thru the middle and up over the end. Hides its 6.5% rather well. Not bad for an irish ale with a higher %. Doesn't even come across as wee heavy! heheheh

Tap at the source. Slight sweet malty aroma with a little bit of hop perfume on the nose. Color is brownish maroon and cloudy. Initially you know this IPA by its dreaded attack on the tastebuds. Yes, a tad of astringent uncivilly is in the mix as well. Big hop bite on top of a malty red ale, quite unique. If you like IPA, ignore my numbers, its terribly on style.

Bottle. Pour is big and black. Very good initial flavors of roasted stout. Decent behavior all the way thru. Just a hint of cherry, but its there. Probably more like charred cherry wood. Good overall impressions, better than expected. Friendly co2 throughout. Leaves a little but of damp burnt wood impressions on the finish. Nice. Perhaps just a tad of coffee & tartness in the end.

Clear pale but some sediment on the bottom of the bottle makes a couple of yeasty drops on the slim head along with a small interesting storm cloud in my clear beer. At first I thought there was some bitterness but that fades quickly into a sessionable civilized brew. Just a little bit of that newer, younger brighton blond processed feel hiding in the lurch. In Brighton, America and Canada, blond is generally preferred over blonde in all cases as a neutral gender. However, it generally references a pretty female sex hair color. So, it's used in reference to females more often than than to males. Unfortunately, a minority of writers continue to observe the gender distinction where using French in the historical vernacular, blond is masculine and blonde is feminine. But, what - ev, this girls is quite tasty. Good tom boy, reminds me of ellie may clampet. Nice job bros!

From a bottle, this is big and nearly black. Has some darker roasted IPA smells laced with sweet candy about it. No BO on the nose, thank you. Its fairly flat for the most part but, there is just a tad of sizzle in there. Yes, some IPA lurks in the background bit I must say its never in yer face, like many black IPA. It really comes across like a pretty civilized dark beer. Not as civilized as their silver back but pretty good for an IPA. Look, I don't like IPA so, if you do, this may just meet your expectations. For me. I thought it quite decent. There you have it.

Tap @ Oak Arbor. Very nice creamy head & lacing. aroma of sweeter malts. Friendly irish effects from this lighter brown orange clody beer. Easy, never would know its 7%. Decent creamy co2 as well. Good stuff. Smooth nicely balanced. Decent overall beer tasting experience.
