Cloudy medium orange amber with a small white head that leaves some tight lace. Bready malt and honey and medium citrus on the nose with grapefruit dominant. Lightly sweet with a medium bitterness (not really picking up 85 IBUs). Medium- slick with average carbonation. OK.

Pours fairly hazy/cloudy deep orange/copper color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of caramel, toast, brown sugar, raisin, plum, apple, spruce, pine, herbal, grass, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, earthy hop/spruce, and light-moderate fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, brown sugar, raisin, plum, apple, spruce, pine, herbal, grass, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Good amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, brown sugar, raisin, plum, apple, spruce, pine, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Good robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/bready malt, earthy hops/spruce, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and fairly crisp/sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a good strong ale style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/bready malt, earthy hops/spruce, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the ABV. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Pours slightly hazy deep reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, brown bread, nuttiness, herbal, light fruitiness, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop/yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, brown bread, nuttiness, herbal, light fruitiness, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Fair amount of herbal/roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, brown bread, nuttiness, herbal, light fruitiness, and yeast/roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity, balance, and solid robustness of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop/yeast ester flavors; with a good roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.2%. Overall this is a very good English brown ale style. All around good complexity, balance, and solid robustness of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop/yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Pours gold white head. Nose/taste of lemon, grass, earthy pine and caramel malt. Medium body.

12oz bottle pours a murky amber with some creamy, clumpy white head. Nose has malt, mild bready notes, some yeast, a little apple. Flavor follows, mild apple, malt, bread crust, mildly gristy. Watery finish. Sort of your standard pub ale.

Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, floral, grass, honey, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon/orange zest, pine, homey, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity and robustness of citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice and pleasant IPA. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. No quite as boldly hoppy as I expected, but definitely a nicely enjoyable offering otherwise.

Bottle. Pours a murky gold with an orange hue with a bubbly white head that dissipates immediately and completely. Aroma is full of musty apples with a bit of sweetness and earthiness. Flavor starts a bit thin but grows to contain earthy and tart apples with a hint of sweetness.

On tap at Grand Trunk. Pours a hazy amber with a gray head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of bread with touches of biscuit and sweet grain. Flavor combines bread and biscuit with a touch of toffee.

Bottle. Lactic chocolate malt and hay aroma. Medium brown with small head. Lightly sweet chocolate with very light malt flavor. Watery body. Not much here - at least there are no off tastes.

This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a decent hazy orange to brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving some light lacing sticking around the glass.
The smell had some pumpkin and a light glazing of some sweet notes and having a light ginger and allspice note.
The taste was mainly sweet but had a light pumpkin spice that really helped to balance it for the most part.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat sharp but still was pretty good to me as it didn’t overdo the sharpness.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good pumpkin ale that I would have again if I could get it. This was the only beer I’ve ever had by Motor City.
