(Bottle 34,1 cl) Comes as "Wellington Imperial Russian Stout". Pours a clear, reddish mahogany with a creamy, beige head. Alcoholic nose with notes of raisins. Rather full body with lots of hard roasted malts, some accents of dried fruit and then a wee, burned edge. Some alcohol in the finish and a bitter, dry note from the malt. 290806

A pitch black beer with a fast disappearing head. The aroma is sweet alcoholic combined with notes of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malty with quite strong caramel notes, as well as light alcohol notes, leading to a dry slightly woody end. The mouthfeel is very rounded and delicious.

This stout poured the usual jet black and had a dark tan foamy head. Very nice to the nose with scents of chocolate, roasted coffee and some ripe fruit. First sip was strong with flavour. Very full bodied. the roasted coffee came through first followed by dark cocoa. Finish was slightly bitter with a little hop. Palate reminded me of old english cough candies called Melloids. Lots of molassas..

This dark ale poured a nice rich dark brown with a choppy tan head. To the nose at first was ripe fruit, sweet molassas and spice. First sip was roasty with full flavours of burnt malts and a little caramel / molassas flavours. The finish was also of roasted malt but had a slightly hoppy taste to the end. Palate was slightly bitter.

Bottle: Poured a clear dark brown color ale with a small off-white bubbly head with minimal retention. Aroma of light sweet roasted malt. Taste is also dominated by the light roasted malt with some sweetness. Carbonation is quite low and alcohol very subtle. Overall, this a good beer but nothing special that will make me seek this again.

Bottle via trade with blankboy. Deep charcoal brown body, thin buff head. Chocolatey aroma with notes of molasses, dark fruit (plum), and bitter, piney hops. Strong roasted malt body with abundant chocolates, dark fruit, hints of soy, coffee, and an earthy, bitter finish. More subtle than most Imperial Stouts, especially in the relatively low ABV (the alcohol being mostly undectable). A decent beer, but in the lower tier of Imperial Stouts.

This starts out with a light tan frothy head that quickly settles down to a ring at the edges of the glass. Black body. Subdued coffee with a bit of licorice in the aroma. Balanced light sweet/bitter flavor but overall they are a bit thin and weak. Thin and weak follow into the palate that is otherwise soft and medium bodied with a touch of alcohol. Cask: Poured a clear brown color ale with a small head that disappeared quite fast. Aroma is quite weak with some malt being distinguishable with some light hops. Taste is refreshing but very light with some sweet malt and light hops. Body is too thin for my own liking and was expecting more bitterness. Not bad but there is some way better bitter out there.

Yellow-brown, creamy head, slightly irregular; brown beer with deep red highlights. Rich plumcake nose, some hops, cookies and horse straw. Sweetish base taste, cake-like with a lot of bitter overtones: USA hops but some bitterish-roasted notes as well. Good malt filling, some esters. Well-bodied, chewy, no adstringency. Nice but a bit stereotypical N. American. "English" strong ale - sure but not one from the UK, way to American hoppy for that.
