Description

330ml bottle [from 2025, but no vintage registered on label]. Opalescent, chestnut colour with ruby shimmer and average to huge, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Very earthy, leafy hoppy and slightly toasty caramel malty aroma, notes of tobacco, autumnal leaves, forest soil, moss, bark, fir cones, a weak touch of dark caramel. Taste is bitter, earthy, leafy hoppy and toasty, caramel malty with some residual sweetness, notes of tobacco, autumnal leaves, forest soil etc. again, some caramel, dark caramel, a nutty touch of acorn.
Slightly oily, watery texture, smooth and minimally greasy, simultaneously slightly dry palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation.
Not exactly tasty in every aspect, but intriguing in its autumnal earthiness - quite unusual.

Bottle from Drankenspeciaalzaak Jelle, Leeuwarden. Aroma is caramel malt with herbs, liquorice root, yeast, spicy notes, cough syrup. Flavour is sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. A bit too herbal and sweet, somewhat unpleasant, too herbal with cough drops.

Bottle from a local bottle shop. Aroma is spicy yeast, some fruity notes with citrus, light touch of vegetable. Slightly tartish and light bitter flavour. Body is medium. Fairly typical Dutch microbrewery idea of a Saison, but not my idea of a Saison.

Bottle. Color: Lightly hazy brownish amber, beige head. Aroma: Barley malt, caramel. Taste: Barley malt, bit sugary, candy sugar, caramel. Over moderate to medium sweet, very slightly sourish (Barley), light bitterness. Just over medium body, just below average carbonation. Drinkable but I'm not a Barley fan.

Bottle. Color: Black, fast disappearing very small brown head. Aroma: Roasted malt, liquorice. Taste: Liquorice, roasted malt, earthy, sweetish, hints of coffee. Dry mouthfeel. Over medium to full body, low carbonation. Over moderate sweet, moderate to over moderate bitterness going to medium at the long lasting dry finish. Mwah. Not exactly my style.
