Description
The brewery is located in the picturesque village of Kötschach-Mauthen, Gailtal, Carinthia and derives its name from the old celtic name of Mauthen. Wonderful freshly brewed beer is celebrated here, with its own source, the best raw materials and a lot of love for the product. The brewhouse is modern and state of the art, the beer is traditionally fermented in the open fermentation tank. We are Gailtal's first brewery and have continued the craft that was practiced in Mauthen in 1700. Since opening in 2007, the brewery has been continuously expanded and the range expanded. Far from the mass products of the corporations, artisanal beer is produced here.

It is an interesting beer. The taste is really sweet, creamy, malty, plum, few vanilla, discreet roasted malt, taking power at the end. Buying it in Salzburg or Vienna, not sure, old memories, 10.04.2016.

From the eurospar, at Frastanz, in august 2024. Opening this bottle, on friday, at home, good deal with our home made pizzas. Enjoyable beer, free of alcool, brewed on the American way, pale ale, really smooth, bready, bitter and resinous at some moment. 29.09.2024

It sounds more a pils than an amber, copper body, white and thin foam, the taste is bitter, hop, malt, a bit watery, refreshing. 13.05.2016

0.33 l bottle at Brauhof Wien brewpub, shared with Ogi. Clear golden, minimal head. Flavour is caramely, hints of dried fruit and ripe banana. Hints of cloves. Lean but good balance. Sweet, candy aroma, flat, too light. Thin, slightly oily. Flavour is sweet caramel with a hint of spice. Light sweet finish.

In my opinion, it is a regular Austrian lager, nothing sexy but it is making the job. It is malty, a bit metalic, some hop and watery. 19.01.2017
