Description
Champion brewing company is Virginia's most progressive brewery, producing a wide variety of ales in two locations: our downtown Charlottesville tap room and our Belmont production facility. Our production brewery known as the 'missile factory' produces our core and seasonal beers on a 30-barrel brewhouse, at a current operating capacity of 15,000 barrels per year. Our original tap room produces constantly changing and innovative seasonals, one-offs, and barrel-aged wild beers.

Keg at the brewery. Pours a hazy dark brown-orange with a thin fizzy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of dark earth, ginger, spice, mild vegetal note. The taste is dark fruit, ginger, toffee, bready malt, spice, citrus. Medium bodied, lingering spice.

Can from Wine Warehouse, CHO. Pours yellow with too big of a head - spills out of my glass. Smells like a cheap lager. Miller Lite? Itβs been years but thatβs what comes to mind. Taste is grass, green peppers, cheap lager.

Paid $3.20 for a 12 oz. can at The Beer Shoppe. Lasting cap of off-white head on top a black liquid. Aroma is a nice level of sweet chocolate and mild roast light traces of char.
Flavor starts sweet with cocoa and mild ashy char hints. The body is on the fuller side with a dry roasted finish. Hints of peanut shells and a mild bitterness that provides a great balance. Hell of an offering, wish I could sample more from this brewery after having this.

Bomber from the brewery. They always release this when Iβm out of town, but fortunately they bottled it this year and bottles lasted until I could get one! Thick wax on this one... took a while to open. Pours a clear golden with a large frothy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of zesty, pithy grapefruit and orange. The taste is pale malt, grapefruit, lime. Pithy, zesty and very dry. Medium bodied, mild lingering bitterness. Nice beer.

Can: Charcoal, black chocolate, coffee aroma. Black, medium tan head, good glass coating. Bakerβs chocolate, toast. Medium body, creamy, easy carbonation. Very well balanced and nice texture. Slightly lacking in complexity, but a very pleasant stout.

Sample at the "New Beers Eve - Last Chance 2014 Beers!" tasting on 12/31/2014. This beer pours a clear amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, hops and bready malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of floral hops, fruit and malt. The finish is mildly bitter with an herbal hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

12oz bottle pours a fairly murky, but watery black with some creamy, beige head. Nose has stale coffee, burnt toast, malt, licorice, some dark fruit, crackery, burnt chaff. Flavor has a mix of burnt toast, bread crust, some cola, molasses, crackers, chewy malt, a little brown sugar sweetness. Clean, dry finish. Very good.

Keg at Beer Run. Pours a hazy lemon with a large creamy off-white head. Good head retention. Aroma of spicy hops, doughy malt, citrus, mild lactic notes. The taste is tart lemon, green olive juice, resin, pine, dank hops, lactic finish. Medium bodied, mild lingering bitterness. 50th Berliner Weisse! Maybe? (This might be merged later).
