330ml bottle. Cloudy dark amber to brown colour with average frothy rudimentarily lacing off-white head. Yeasty, caramel malty, slightly toasty aroma, a hint of dark fruit - overall decent, underdeveloped. Initially yeasty taste, dark fruity and caramel malty, touch of alcohol, a spicy touch in finish. Lacks expectable complexity and depth in relation to its high rating.

330ml bottle. Cloudy dark amber colour with average frothy to creamy lacing off-white head,, permanently leaving a thick layer. Slightly spicy toasted malty aroma, some dark berries, a whiff of yeast. Slightly sweet caramel malty taste, dark fruit, yeasty overtone; not overly complex, but with a range of nice flavours.

Würzig schokoladiger, stark karbonisierter Beginn. Süßlich angehauchte Kräuternoten, etwas grasig, intensiv. Hefig, vergoren bananig, sehr trocken werdend. Karamellig herbes Finish. 8/10/11/13/9/11

Würziger aber noch verhalten dunkelmalziger Beginn mit gering süßen Noten. Angenehme Kräuternoten, durch die die Süße intensiver wirkt. Holzig, würzig. Kirsche, deutlich hefig. Rund, intensiv, das Verhältnis von Süße zu Würzigkeit könnte aber etwas besser sein. 13/11/11/11/12/11

Riktigt gott. Karamellig, maltig, söt, kraftfull, chokladtoner, smaker som utvecklas med tiden, bara till det bättre då både sötma och alkoholsmaken blir mindre och smaken komplexare.

Very nice trappist. Dark colour with white foam. Heavy, sweet. Hints of chocolat and caramel. Also a little bit creamy. But overall a nice trappist!

I’ve had this before but never rated it. Sitting in my hotel bar in Belgium and ordered one for 3 Euro. Poured into a slight pilsener glass at room temperature. Best by: 9/26/16
A - Half a finger, very light brown head. foggy brown ale with showing just a bit of light through just sitting here on the table. SRM is 30 maybe. Head dissipated at the time I finished writing this sentence.
S - Loads of dark fruits, figs and raisins especially with a hint of bread. sweet malty taste with a hint of cinnamon. I had the 10 earlier and this is not as sweet but still nice.
T - Really nice balanced sweetness with loads of dark fruits. Great solid malt backbone and just a tad bit more carbonated than I like. I’m getting some coffee characteristics which is strange for a beer of this style.
M - 90% carbonation, medium body and the finish is sweet and quickly fades with a nice level of malts
O - Delicious. Not as great as 10 but stil very tasty.

Good trappist. Dark brown with quite small head/foam. Anise is major in aroma. Also taste includes anise, caramel and some sweetness. Testattu yhdessä St. Bernardus Abt 12:n kanssa vertailumielessä. Väriltään oluet ovat hyvin lähellä toisiaan. Abt 12 on ulkonäöltään täysi kymppi. Luonnovalkoinen vaahto säilyy pitkään oluen pinnalla ja jättää kivan pitsin. R10 taas on selvästi pienivaahtoisempi ja hiilihappoista poreilua on havaittavissa pitkään. Tuoksussa Abt 12 on pehmeä, karamellinen ja yllättävän "mieto". R10 vahvasti anismainen. Maultaan Abt 12 on pehmeä, karamellisen maltainen ja hyvin miedosti, ei juuri lainkaan katkera. R10 on monimuotoisempi maultaan, mutta anis todella vahvana. Yhteenvetona: Abt 12 on "helpompi", pehmeämpi ja kauniimpi olut. R10 sisältää Rocheforteille tyypillisen anismaisen tuoksun. Lisäksi maku on syvempi ja voimakkaampi. Todellisia laatuoluita molemmat, mutta omassa arvoasteikossa Abt 12 on rinnan mitan edellä R10:n turhan vahvan anismaisuuden takia.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a medium tan head that has reasonable staying power and good lacing. Strong aroma of sweet raisins, some yeast, caramel malts, breadlike. Flavor is quite complex, with fruity/spicy notes, caramel malt and a back of Belgian yeast. Warming alcohol in the late body and finish. Lightly bitter finish, but crisp. Very nice beer.

Bottle at Bristol, Portcullis, 8th May 2012. This is full on as you would expect, big aroma, musky, boozy fruity. Looks fine plenty of sediment, the flavour is intense, raisins, sultanas soaked in booze, fruit and marzipan undertones. Palate is nice but overly carbonated for my taste. Good, but not top of my list
