Dark reddish-brown colour; Similar florals to the 6 in the nose. Denser, though, in fruitcake and especially in alcohol with brandy, chocolate and black cherry. A big but rounded aroma. The alcohol comes through much more on the palate, giving this a fairly muscular character. The fruitcake is rich, the dark malt intensity high. Yet, with the florals it has a certain style that few beers, even the big Trappist ones, have.

Dark brown. Very rich aroma. Although it lacks almost entirely the florals of its smaller siblings, the Rochefort 10 is rich in dark fruit, dark sugars and has more than a little hint of alcohol. On the palate, this is a very muscular brew - lots of alcohol - but in a truly approachable package. The malt sweetness is impeccable, very rich but very complex. This is balanced by nuanced fruit. That said, it has the least complexity of any of the Rocheforts, IMO, and therefore is a more limited beer.

One of the outstanding high alcohol beers of the world. Sweet and full bodied with interesting yeastiness. Strong alcohol warming but not overwhelming. Very drinkable for its strength.
