Bottle from Intermarche in St Rémy at Paris CDG before checking in. Dark cola brown pour with puffy sudsy head. Sedimentation at the bottom. Aroma is rich and complex - plum first, bread, light fruity red wine vinousness, wood/oak, leather - like a barrel aged beer. Red wine is very prominent as it warms - red berries. Taste is sweet dried fruit, big earthy bitterness, oak, wine not as present on taste, dark bread. Prickly carbonation. Lasting alcohol warmth. Smooth palate that’s not heavy. Delicious for this style, certainly one of the best. Sweet but not cloying, and much more complex than usual plum-bombs.

Bottle pour into tulip glass from Total Wine & More, Danvers. Appearance is lightly hazy (fine dark particulates) dark orange/light brown with nice, lively sparkle, 2-finger off-white frothy head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong candied sugar and caramel, milder tart fruit. Taste is strong candied sugar and caramel, sweet and tart fruit, mild alcohol. Palate is light bodied with thin, frothy texture (like effervescent champagne) with lively-to-fizzy carbonation, finish as taste. Overall, strong and sweet but I just wanted to let it sit for half an hour or so for the carbonation to ease. Would be better a bit fuller and less carbonated. Still enjoyable.

Appearance- beer-specific bottle cap, apart from that bottle is quite simple. Cloudy orange-brown color with some sediment. From - snifter Taste - weak citrus, malt Belgian, faint sourness, caramel. Not as good I had thought it to be before, but still decent.
