Crystal clear, golden coloured body with a pure white head, about a centimetre tall that fades pretty quickly and leaves a very ugly lace on the side of the glass. Aroma of grass, hay, cereal, grain, yeast, bread, funk and a little bit of soap - with not much too exciting and no hops at all, aside from the dashes of grass. Light-bodied; Strong grassy and very herbal notes up front with a more assertive yeast and bready flavour with some grain towards the end and a good hit of the floral and lightly herbal components with a more of a metallic twang and pungency throughout. Aftertaste shows the grasses for sure, but with the light sweetness and grain/cereal/yeast there is nothing really else to sample with this one - fairly bland ad underwhelming, which in some respects is good, but just mellow overall. I sampled this 500 mL can as Day Nineteen [of twenty-four] of the 2018 Christmas Advent Calendar, purchased from Costco in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 30-September-2018 for US$59,99/twenty-four, sampled at my house here in Washington on 20-December-2018.

Bottle 500ml. @ home. [ As Wittmann Winterbier ].ABV: 5.6%. Clear medium orange yellow colour with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sweet malt, grain, sugary malt, rich malt, malty. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and light bitter with a long duration, rich malt, sweet malt, fruity malt, malty, light grain. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Flascherl (thanx to Joss!): Pale golden with a greenish sheen, hazy, lively carbonation, small white foamy layer; mild to moderate sweetish-bitter aroma of grains and herbal hops; nearly moderate sweet-bitter flavour, pretty soft, nearly medium-bodied; slightly lingering, soft, malty and herbal-flowery finish. “Landshuter Dult-Bier“, aus der Flasche im Krenkl, Landshut. - Orangegold, klar. - In der Nase breites Karamelmalz, Honigsüße, milde kräuterige Herbe. - Antrunk füllig karamelmalzig mit kräftiger Malzsüße, etwas Honig und milder, gleichwohl derber Hopfenherbe. Zarte Anklänge an grüne Äpfel. Milder rezent, vollmundig. Im Abgang milde Bittere, etwas Zitronenschale, scharfe und ruppige Züge mit Anklängen an Gummi. - Leicht unterdurchschnittliches Festbier. Auch Landshuts zweite Brauerei überzeugt mich nicht.

“Wittmann Premium Extra Pils“, vom Faß im Weißen Bräuhaus zum Krenkl, Landshut. - Hellgelb, blank. - In der Nase feines helles Malz mit milder Süße. - Antrunk schlank und recht farblos zitrusfruchtig hopfenherb. Durchschnittlich rezent. Im Abgang trockene, kräftige Bittere. - Für ein bayerisches Pilsner untypisch schlank und ordentlich bitter aber aromatisch schmalspurig. Tut was es soll aber kein Deut mehr. Neuverkostung: Fläschchen von Getränke Fleischmann, Gangkofen. - In der Nase eher schroffe, derb zitronenschalige Hopfung, der man bereits den Hopfenextrakt anmerkt. - Antrunk satt getreidig hellmalzig mit feinem Süßsauer und solider zitronenschaliger und grasiger Hopfung, die aber bald ins Ölig-Derbe abrutscht. Milder rezent, nicht gerade schlank. Im Abgang plumpe Bittere. - Weder Premium noch Extra, bloß ein derbes, kräftig aber schematisch gehopftes süddeutsches Pilsener von breiter Malzigkeit. Kann ich jetzt nur noch mit 2,6 bewerten. (14.6.2024.)
