Description
Temporal Artisan Ales is a brewing project that is crafting delicate oak-aged beers in a shared space at Luppolo Brewing Company in Vancouver, BC. The beers we create are fermented 100% in our oak barrels over lengthy periods of time, imparting delicate complexity. Portions of separate barrels are blended to enhance specific characteristics unique to each barrel. Every beer we release has been meticulously crafted from start to finish.

330mL bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany with light coconut chunks and a tiny head. Nose is loaded with toasted coconut, bourbon barrels, toffee, and molasses. Flavour is full of toasted coconut galore, followed by toasted caramel, bourbon, and molasses. That's a lot of coconut -- damn. Maybe not the most complex, but it's damn nice.

12 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany with a tiny head. Aroma is loaded with caramel, honey, vanilla beans, and plenty of bourbon. Flavour is rich and treacly, with intense honey, caramel, and vanilla, backed by lots of bourbon barrels. Boozy, sweet, and loads of caramelized honey on the finish. Monolithically honey-oriented, quite boozy and not particularly well-integrated. It's good but not Temporal's best work.

Medium-dark brown. Just a little head. The aroma is assertive on the bourbon and it's kicking off bubblegum and alcohol. On the palate, more alcohol, but it's absolutely dominating. The base beer lacks the body and residual sugars to cope. Not saying there's no sugar, just not enough for the power of the treatment. The flavour elements likewise struggle to compete. The barrel is just too much for the base, and the flavour elements don't seem to show up much at all. Love the idea but as with last year's Gold Foil, it leans too much into the barrel and not enough into the dessert part of the equation.

330mL bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out leather, vanilla brandy barrels, dry caramel, and a touch of tobacco. Flavour is medium-heavy sweet, with tobacco, vanilla brandy barrels, caramel, and a touch of smokiness. Sweet but not cloying, with a nice complexity. Not really like Adam and much sweeter. It's solid.

Draught @ Container. Amber, no head. Pours inky. This has sweet, figgy, sticky toffee kind of aroma. On the palate, sweet, toffee, dark sugars, light fruitiness.

Re-rate: poured from the tap. Hazy gold with small white head. Mild funk, light oak, decent, but not a standout. Aug 06, 2022 (7/3/8/4/16=3.8): poured from bottle @ FHF 2022. Clear ish gold with small white head. Light citrus note, simple, feint funk, nice.
