Description
The family farm in Bellaghy, County Derry, that was previously home to the late poet Seamus Heaney and inspired him endlessly, is now also home to an on-site microbrewery. Heaney Brewery was set up by Malcolm McCay and his wife Suzanne, who is a niece of Seamus, in early 2019.

Heaney initially launched four beers on the market in 2016 using facilities at Boundary Brewing.

Bottle. Nose is tar, treacle, wheat, hobby of soft licorice. Taste is lemon spice pepper leading to dark malt, light treacle, yeast. It's a mess of flavours that is being sold on a novelty style. It should have remained a failed homebrew

Can from KWM. Appearance - golden yellow with steady carbonation and an attractive, snow white head. Nose - orange peel and coriander seed is very prevalent. Some tangy, citrus from the wheat side of things. Taste - coriander seed, creamy citrus then dry citrus at the back. Palate - light bodied, dry and tangy middle and finish. Overall - good example of the style.
