Vale Brewery

Associated Venue: Vale Brewery
Established in 1995
Four years later in 1999, our current Head Brewer Dave Renton joined the team, putting his signature stamp and seal of approval on every Vale beer in the 23 years since.
With a host of awards following in quick succession, we expanded out of our Haddenham home, settling in the hill-top village of Brill, known for being JRR Tolkien's inspiration for the village of Bree in The Lord of the Rings.
In 2021, brothers Joe & Jimmy Brouder purchased the brewery from founders Phil & Mark Stevens.
With a new chapter beginning at Vale, our priorities remain the same: to make wonderful ales each and every time, nothing else.

Clear amber with a creamy off-white head and a hint of lemony malt on the nose. Smooth and creamy with a slug of bitterness up front, before it softens into a dry and fruity malt led trad bitter

Cask at Moon under Water, Wolverhampton. Pours a rich ruby red with a medium sized off-white head and good lacing. A little hint of lime in the aroma, but not much else. Malts and rye are the immediate hits on the taste buds, followed shortly by a rich fruitiness. Traces of treacle and caramel come to mind later. Finish is quite dry and malty. Decent.

Cask at Wellington Arms, half pint shared with Finn. Bright golden body, filmy layer at the surface, clingy lacing. Ripe citrus nose, a note of lemon. Ripe fruity flavours, impacts of lemon and orange, offset by caramel malts. Expressive semi-dry bitter finish. Decent. (Bedford 18.11.2021).

[Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell.] A slightly hazy pale golden pour with a loose white head; biscuity malt aroma; biscuity taste with a little citrus; then a pleasant bitterness and a touch of spice from some traditional English hops. A straightforward summer quaffer.
