Description
Pössneck is a city with a rich brewing tradition. In the 16th century, the beer was exported to cities such as Weimar. The brewery 'bei der Rosenmühle' was built between 1863 and 1866. In 1895 Richard Wagner became the full owner of the brewery. The Wagner family ran the brewery until 1950 when it was nationalized.
After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the great-grandson Nikolaus Wagner of the founder Richard Wagner was able to take over the Pößneck brewery again as manager and continue the family tradition, which has now lasted 130 years.

Bottled. An amber beer with a light tan head. The aroma is sweet malty combined with notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel as well as light notes of metal from the alcohol, leading to a dry bitter alcoholic finish.

Draught at BBF07. Lager aroma. Clear golden colour. OK stable white head. The flavour is slightly grainy with a semi-pleasant bitterness. Quite average.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of MoritzF. Pours a clear, dark orangey golden with an off-white head. Sweetish aroma of malt and caramel. Rather full body with caramel and roasted malt with a not so refined finish where you find bitterness and alcohol fighting to be in charge. A somewhat plain Dunkler Bock. 150807

Dark golden color. Very simple aroma; the flavor, based on a honeyish caramel and quite sweet, is not bad, but too flat; it also has a touch of over-ripe apples. Not bad but missing of character.

(bottle) Clear, reddish amber colour with a mid-sized, non-persistent eggshell-coloured foamy head. Discret nose: sweet, very light toasty and nutty malt-aroma. Sweet flavour, at nost medium bodied, smooth on carbon. Minimal-toasty malty taste; almost slim and a bit short malt-accented finish. At least clean and drinkable Bock with Märzen-character and without any attracting attention.

(bottle) Clear, pale golden colour with a foamy white, medium-sized head. Herbal and moderately grassy hop aroma with a perfumed malty sweetness in the background. Light-bitter flavour with an acidic touch, light bodied with a medium carbonation. Light herbal hops on a soft malty base; slim, slightly bitter and grassy hoppy finish. Totally bland Pils, but clean enough to finish it.

Bottle: Amber coloured, small, stable and lacing foamy layer; shy nose: sweet malt, toasted malt, a bit sugary; light sweetish flavour, light(!) to medium bodied; short sweet-malty finish with a bitter aftertaste. A rather mediocre Bock...

Bottle: Reddish-amber coloured, quite firm off-white head; burnt malt and caramel in the aroma, vegetables too; light sweetish flavour, a little acidity detectable, too; metal and vegetables in the drier malty finish. Cough...no pleasure at all !
