Description
Pössneck is a city with a rich brewing tradition. In the 16th century, the beer was exported to cities such as Weimar. The brewery 'bei der Rosenmühle' was built between 1863 and 1866. In 1895 Richard Wagner became the full owner of the brewery. The Wagner family ran the brewery until 1950 when it was nationalized.
After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the great-grandson Nikolaus Wagner of the founder Richard Wagner was able to take over the Pößneck brewery again as manager and continue the family tradition, which has now lasted 130 years.

330ml bottle. Clear, chestnut colour with ruby shimmer and small to average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Sweet-ish, dark malty aroma, hints of malt lozenge, minimally doughy yeasty overtones. Taste is sweet-ish, dark malty with a minimally grainy touch and mildly bitter hoppy, hints of malt lozenge, a touch of burnt caramel; dry, almost a bit metallic-repellent finish.
Watery texture, smooth and minimally dry palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation.
Quite simple and monotonous, not much body for a Bock - so-so.

Taste is strawy, grainy, and minimally spicy, pale malty, almost a bit veggie, earthy, grassy, mildly bitter, hoppy overtones; minimally mineral finish.
Watery texture, smooth and minimally dry palate, fine, mildly prickly carbonation.
Quite grainy, not the most flattering flavours - not much better than your average Pale Lager from a more "exotic" country than Thuringia.
