On tap at Brauerei Goldener Lowe, Drugendorf, during Fin and Loz’s cycle ride around villages to the South and South East of Bamberg, Germany 19-06-10 Good balance of bittersweetness to this beer, some honey and malt and soft in the mouth with a little bit of toffee. The appearance is amber with a white head. Only one Euro eighty cents for two 500ml glasses of this (bargain eh!) A7 A4 F7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Bright copper. Thick head. Malty, with a slightly caramelly nose. Firm, malty palate, again with a caramel accent, maybe turning a bit too much to butter as it warms.

Golden-brown with a nice head. Rich bready aroma with light toffee notes. The body is thin, the flavour is bready and nutty. Dryish finish for the style.

Golden, bright. Light malt-accented nose. Malt accented palate is clean. Tasty, bready character with light supporting hop base that carries a slightly grassy accent.

Bright gold. Richer, caramel-tinged bready malts and more subtle grassy-mossy hops. Balanced palate - fairly fat and tangy, almost bohemian, with a moderately bitter character.

Bottle, 4.9% bought at the brewery. Mild cereal aroma. Clear dark golden colour. Nice stable rocky white head. The flavour is quite malty with some cream and a little hoppy spice note. Mild, but OK.

Draught at the brewpub. The aroma seems a little smoky, but I cannot trace it in the flavour. Hazy brown colour. Small stable tan head. The flavour has a slightly rough bitterness. Not as malty as I expected from the colour. Quite boring. 5 3 5 3 11
Bottle, 4.9% bought at the brewery. Strangely rough aroma, a little unpleasant. Clear grey amber colour. Small off-white head. The flavour has some caramelly malt, OK sweetness. The finish leaves a bit of rubber on the palate. 5 3 6 3 12
