(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a clear, dark amber with a small, dense off-white head. Sweetish caramel aroma. Medium body, sweetish caramel malt and a somewhat flat carbonation. Very subdued hops. A bit unusual with an Export this dark. 111106

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear, pilsener golden with a dense, white head. Clean, malty nose. Medium-bodied, sweetish malty with a nice, balancing hoppiness. Again a very clean and well-made beer from Goldener Löwe. 111106

Bottle (purchased at the brewery): Light amber coloured, lacing foamy layer; sweetish-malty, a bit caramelly and toasted, too; clean faint sweet (malty) flavour, light bodied; sweetish-caramelly finish with some bitterness coming very late. O.K., nothing more.....

A pale orange beer with a thin off-white head, with huge bubble in the liquid. The flavor is slightly metallic and slight caramelic. The flavor has primary notes of straw and caramel, but also metal, leading to a dry end.

On draught (in the brewery yard): Copper coloured, huge, lasting off-white head; fine herbal hoppy aroma; starts malty, malty flavour also, becoming more and more bitter towards the finish; quite fizzy, ligjt bodied, very creamy texture. A very good example of a typical franconian Lager; worth a detour..........
