Golden-brown colour. Brisk carbonation. Deep caramel nose with light fruitiness. Quite appetizing, actually. The body is full of caramelly, slightly toasty malts. I like the intense caramels, earthy hops in the finish and relatively full body.

(bottle) Slightly hazy, bright golden colour with a medium-sized, slightly off-white foamy head. Moderately sweet biscuity malty aroma lemony fruity and slightly spicy hops. Sweet and delicately bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a well-matured and pleasantly smooth carbonation. Soft malty base with notes of biscuits and fresh bread, combined with a light hoppy touch. A pleasant session beer (10.VII.09).

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Starts strong-malty, not too sweet. Little notes of liquorice. Finish woody-dry. Interesting bock!

500mL bottle at Spuyten Duyvil poured into an imperial pint glass with a murky orange body and a large head, which slowly fades. Aroma is very woodsy and earthy with slick, dominating German lager yeastiness. Taste s lightly sweet with that lager yeastiness again.Finishes with lightly sweet cereal flavor. Good full mouthfeel for the style. Just seems like it could still be fresher and more crisp.

Bottle at Spuyten Duyvil - semi-hazy copper - minimal lace - fairly faint aroma, but the flavor is quite nice - a lot of nuttiness, strong grainy components, crisp hop bitterness - slightly high sweetness, but still smooth, with a nice hop bite to it - nice.

On tap at the brewpub: A bit unclear, pale golden, mid-sized creamy, almost rocky head; clean grainy and pale-malty nose with a faint hoppy tinge; moderate sweet-bitter flavour with a light acidity; strawy-grassy finish. Quite mediocre by franconian standards........
