One of the top Baltic porters from this excellent new Polish craft brewery, glad to be able to finally taste this one. Moussy, slowly diminishing, pale yellowish beige head, black colour with mahogany edges. Aroma of smoked sausages, dried plums, bitter black chocolate, black peppercorns, cigar ashes, pipe tobacco, whisky, treacle, peat, dried porcini. Sweetish onset of dried plums and old raisins, softish carbo, thick oily body; deep nutty maltiness, caramelly edges, toasty bitter towards the end with upcoming smoked meat-like umami notes, something ashy and mouth-filling, coffeeish roasted bitterness; peppery finish of hops and warming whisky-like alcohol. Very special and luxurious interpretation of this old style kept alive by Poland more than any other country before the advent of the craft beer movement, I'd say this much sought after beer is certainly worth the hype.

Barleywine from one of Poland's best new generation breweries, with thinnish, egg-white, slowly opening head and clear amber-bronze robe. Aroma of molten butter (diacetyl - something which seems to be quite common in Polish craft beers), marmelade, whipped cream, candied peach, calvados, caramel candy, hazelnut paste, olive oil. Sweet onset, Sultana raisins and marmelade, light sourish touch, soft carbo, thick creamy and viscous mouthfeel, very butterscotch-like maltiness, bit oily in the end, leading to a long warming finish with pleasant cognac-like alcohol effect and retronasal vanilla and marmelade notes, but low in hop bitterness. Interesting and very enjoyable English style barleywine, recommended in this style.

Bottle, 0.50l, shared with my colleagues. Aroma of caramel, bread, nuts, honey and alcohol. Clear brown color with thin soapy off-white head and soft visible carbonation. Taste starts with sweet caramel and mild roasted malt, following is nutty and a bit yeasty, mouthfeel is warm alcoholic, while finish is medium bitter. Medium body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. Could be better, but still pretty decent for the style...
