Description
Urban Chestnut Brewing Company, with three locations in St. Louis, is an unconventional-minded yet tradition-oriented brewer of craft beer. We like to call our unique brewing philosophy Beer Divergency - a 'new world meets old world' brewing approach wherein UCBC contributes to the 'revolution' of craft beer with artisanal creations of modern American beers, and pays 'reverence' to the heritage of beer with classically-crafted offerings of timeless European beer styles.

Can from Tavour. Pours clear bright gold with a moderate white head. Aroma is grass/spice, light citrus, light bready malt. Med body, tho it seems thinnish at the same time. Flavor is the aroma with the light citrus suggesting lemon/lime. Nice light beer.

Pour is typical hazy IPA with a large foamy white head. Aroma is lots of berry and there was a big green onion but it seems to fade. Flavor is more red berry orange peel. Finish is gone quickly with a little generic fruit left on the tongue. Pretty average for a hazy but also nothing really wrong with it.

Pour is a clear amber with a large white head. Aroma is a little roasted nuts with some caramel malt. Flavor is a little caramel malt and not much beyond that. The beer has a nice chewy thickness but this was lacking is just about everything else.

Bright, grainy lager, with a pale malt sweetness accented by cracker, lemon, white bread, and a touch of apple, followed by a firm earthy-floral bitterness. Very nice pint.

Can to becher pint glass.
Appearance: dark brown to black color with an eggshell white foamy head about three fingers high, this dissipated to leave some messy lace
Aroma: deep roasted malts, some herbal character, mellow earthiness, ashy/char tones, some cocoa powder, and delicate coffee tones
Flavor: balances between all the prior mentioned aromas semi-sweet and roasty, some toastiness, mild aftertaste of toast, earthiness and ash
Texture: almost medium bodied but just a touch under, semi-sessionable, finishes very dry and roasty
Overall: am I befuddled about what a German porter is? I would say so, though I guess this is just Urban Chestnut's version of a cross of a Munich dunkel and a porter, perhaps. However, I would want this again.

Can to becher pint glass.
Appearance: glossy burnt orange color with a two and a half fingers of white foamy head, dissipated nicely to leave some messy lace
Aroma: some lemony hoppiness; extra citrusy hop tones, mild biscuity/cracker malts
Flavor: semi-sweet blend of the prior mentioned aromas, also an odd note of orange marmalade in this taste; not much of any aftertaste, just seemed citrusy
Texture: light to medium bodied, sessionable, dry to semi-bitter finish
Overall: if this is Urban Chestnut's best take on a NEIPA, I wouldn't go out of my way to reach for this. Probably best they stick to traditional styles.

Flavor: semi-sweet malty toned, some roastiness, mellow aftertaste of roasted nuts and caramel malts

Bottle to weizen glass.
Appearance: cloudy yellow color with a big three finger white foamy head which really took it's time to dissipate, once it did, mellow lace appeared.
Aroma: semi-sweet wheat, mellow clove, some bubblegum, and some lemony character
Flavor: semi-sweet, subtle spiciness, and then there's those lemony tones, mild aftertaste of sweet wheat, clove, and lemon
Texture: light to medium bodied, some sessionability, semi-smooth along my tongue; finishes semi-wheaty but not much of a bite
Overall: okay hefeweizen, I was surprised with the level of lemon in this. Odd but I was trying to figure out if that was intentional.
