Description
As of 1995 the Courage brands were owned by Scottish and Newcastle Breweries. The brands were then sold to Wells and Young's, and then Eagle Brewery. The Eagle Brewery and beer brands including Courage were acquired by Marstons PLC in 2017.
Marstons merged with Carlsberg in 2020. The Eagle Brewery was sold to the Spanish brewer Damm in 2022, with Carlsberg Marston retaining ownership of the brands.
Carlsberg's purchased the remaining Marston share in 2024, and Carlsberg Britvic was formed in 2025. Courage beer brands then become fully owned by Carlsberg Britvic.

GBBF Day 2. Cask. Clear amber beer, bubbly pale cream colour head. Palate is airy, semi dry and has great fine carbonation. In lovely condition this beer. Mild caramel malts, modest dried fruits. Light floral finish. A modest beer elevated by great condition.

A 0.275 l bottle. It poured almost black, red hued body with a small brown head. Strong aroma of licorice, roasted malts like coffee and cocoa with some sweeter fruity notes. Flavor was lightly sweet, also a bit bitter, all from roasted malts where the coffee dominated. Cocoa, brown sugar, some licorice made it up as well. Medium complexity, I thought it would be higher. Medium body with longer, sourish coffee finish. Okay, a correct and enjoyable imperial stout, although quite an average or sub-par one. Also overpriced.

Took a Biere De Garde to my parents but I was driving and no-one else wanted any, so settled for a bottle of this instead. Chestnut in colour with a weak white head. A burnt nutty aroma. Bitter in taste, with a toffee undertone. Lihght to medium with some carbonation. An average bitter.

Közepes habja sokáig megmarad. Szép rézvörös színe van. Közepesen intenzív, fűszeres, gyümölcsös illat. Lágy fűszeres ízvilág, közepes komlós keserűsség, jelzés értékű karamell. Közepesen testes.

275ml bottle (2012 vintage) at home on 7th April 2016. Poured into ’Gordons’ thistle shaped glass, it is very, very dark, the head a wispy light tan colour. Rich, smooth and boozy with coffee and dark chocolate esters oozing through the brew, raisin like flavours abound with a wild berry undertone. Very drinkable.
