Bottle thanks to Stuu.
Appearance - deep reddish amber with a thin head. Quite low carbonation.
Nose - light balsamic, a hint of sour cherry and brown bread.
Taste - more balsamic and bread.
Palate - medium bodied, dry tangy and sour finish. Carbonation low but doesn't really reduce the enjoyment.
Overall - pretty good and on style.

The stash from brethren endureth. A cloudy brown. The unattended bottle gushed all over the kitchen worktop but the beer when poured then had a surprisingly short-lived beige head. Aroma has tart vinous notes and booze over a more earthy, fruit cake and dark fruit layer. Flavourwise it's got an initial sour vinous, which does persist. However a dark doughy and molasses sweetness provides a base. Gets fruity. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. I like.

Bottle from before I fled the brethren. Ruby tinged opaque brown. Foamy bubbly translucent off-white head sticks to the rim. Did not bother actually mulling it. Aroma has sour fruit and a vinous streak with jammy hedgerow. Flavourwise it's rather sour - vinous and berries, albeit with a hint of sweetness. However it's the sourness that really is the focus, it's really quite tart. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Average-flat carbonation. Long dry super astringent finish. But,to be fair, I didn’t add spice and sugar as directed.

Bottle from my brethren stash. Opaque ruby tinged dark chestnut. Aroma has vinous sourness and a woody streak over . Flavourwise it is tangy - sour but sweet edged. Berries and vinous. More wood. Underlying sugariness and malts. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-average carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. More sour than I was expecting. OK but not the big stick boozy Eisbock you'd hope for.

Oily and sugary, low carb, some woody barrel accents, a faint metallic accent. Gooey dark fruits. So so.

Tasting at CBJ, thanks to Bearded Avenger. Almost clear amber brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Airy smooth palate, modest fine carbonation. Sugary sweet dark malts. Tangy maple and ripe fruits. Smooth finish. Tasty but far too sweet.
