Sampled from a 16 oz can this beer poured a hazy straw yellow color with a medium sized fizzy white head that faded quickly and left minimal lacing. The aroma was tangy, grassy and lightly floral. The flavor was tangy with some bread, grass, perfume and nut. The finish was medium length nut, bread and floral hops. Light body. Eh.

From can, yet another note from Dark Lord Day. Solid brown with a very thin head poured from half a can. Smell is quite alcoholic. Like a stout with all the bitter, roasty malt removed. This sample has gone a little bit flat. The mouthfeel is surprisingly light for what this is. Tends toward malt with just enough hops to keep it from sweetness. Goes down quite easily.

Received in trade from phisigben, thanks for the opportunity! Pours a deep clear dark brown color with ruby highlights when held to light. A Huge fluffy beige head sits on top for a good long time before impaling itself to the sides of my glass. Smells of caramel and chocolate mostly with some vanilla, a hint of nut and a bit of earthy hop presence. Taste is caramel and toffee mostly. Hints of butter, alcohol, and a slightly earthy citrus hop flavor seems a bit out of place. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet watery mouthfeel. I didn’t enjoy this one as much as I had hoped I would. The malt bill has a distinct English esb meets dark mild feel to it while it also seems heavy on the American hops for a brown. I thought the flavors clashed a little bit. For a brew with oats in the bill I would have expected a much creamier feel than this beer has.

Received in trade from phisigben, thanks for the opportunity! Pours a slightly cloudy deep copper color with a smallish off white head that shows moderate retention and lace. Smells of hops, tastes like em too. Lots of pine and citrus and floral hops with a faint bit of bready malt sulking deep in a dark corner. A bit of malt breaks through in the flavor but is quickly sent to its room by the onslaught of pine and citrus. Medium body and level of carbonation with a slick resinous almost sticky mouthfeel. Damn good beer right here, although I don’t find it horribly abrasive as advertised. Then again I’ve spent the last few years building up an immunity to Iocane powder, I mean lupulin.

Can, big thanks to Tripplebrew. Poured into a shaker. Great eye appeal with solid retention. You get every hop aroma possible. (Pine, grapefruit and a tad floral) Lots of fruit in the taste and a balanced malt to support it. Anything else I say would be a repeat of other ratings… BUT I will say if you are a Hop Head, you need to get a few cans of this. Or take a road trip and get a case or two. This is an amazing IPA, no matter how you spin this or how much you want to dissect it, no flaws at all. I am kind of sensitive when it comes to bitterness… and I still find this fantastic!

Bottle shared by badnewsbeers. Deep garnet body, thin discontinuous beige head. Nose of smoke and caramel. Smoky body, like beef jerky or meat sticks, meaty and dry. Full-bodied with mostly subdued roasted notes occasionally nudging past the smoke.

Bomber from Guerde. Thanks for yet another great Surly! Pours dark brown with a few tan bubbles. Smokey bacon aroma. Full bodied. Flavor is smoke over smooth dark malt. Not burnt. Good stuff.

Can, thanks to Finol. Pours orange with a creamy white head. Lychee, gooseberries and grass notes in the aroma. Very fresh and green. The taste has also got lychee and gooseberries notes and is well balanced with some grapefruit-like bitterness. Well balanced. Thirst quenching. Stable.

Can, gift from Omar of Surly. Pours clear amber with a slightly yellowish head. Very fresh grassy, citrusy aroma. Great balance for a single hop, hoppy taste of citrus and grape seeds.
