Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Pale copper with a thin off-white head. Not in the best condition. Nice fruitiness up front - fresh apples and orange. Some lemon, some floral notes, a touch of white bread and sulphur, and a rather watery finish. Ok light bitter.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading.] A straw coloured pour with a ring of white head and some gentle carbonation; light fruity aroma; fruity taste with some stone fruit and some lemon; then a gentle bitterness. A clean and refreshing pale ale.

[Cask at The Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading.] A hazy straw coloured pour with no head and gentle carbonation; grassy aroma; thin in the mouth with a light grassy taste and a cereal grain body; then a dry grainy finish with a touch of lemon. Not what I expect from a “cream ale”, and not sure how I’d classify it.

[Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading at 4.2% ABV.] A slightly hazy pale amber pour with a tight creamy head; floral aroma; soft in the mouth with a grainy body, some orchard fruit and a light grassy bitterness; then a dry floral finish. Reminds me of Kentish bitters of old.
