Single from 604. Pint glass at home during beer chats night.
Brown on black, cascading & flimsy malted milk head.
Surprising milky nose, weak roast with lots of unexpected, bold floral notes.
Why is this so floral? Lingering rose water, vanilla, light roast astringency. Minerally. Soapy. It doesn't work. This cherry wood doesn't seem familiar. An extra punch of herbal on the tail.
Medium carb, milky, a bit boozy.
This is wierd.

750ml @ Ryan's shared with Josh, Farees, and Phill (thx for the beer!).
Aroma: dark fruits, American oak, some sweetness.
Taste: along the same lines, quite fruity.
Overall: pleasant.

Dark brown. No head. This is grapey, cognac, really intensely vinous aroma on this. Medium body, nothing crazy. Actually a bit light for this style. A bit of fruitiness. Some alcohol, woody depth...but they have really optimized for fruitiness and the bourbon just sort of lends an accent to that. Intense, and arguably lacks balance.

Poured from 750mL bottle (batch #2, bottled Feb 2022). Dark brown with small beige head. Bland dark sugars and toffee, feint bourbon, lacks depth, okay, but disappointing.

Can from Tavour. Pours hazy gold with a small white head that persisted. Complex aroma. It’s quite juicy, but it’s not all that sugary. However the bitterness that’s present, is just barely enough to balance the light sugar. For flavor I’m getting citrus, green melon, and weed. There’s a light tanning to it, that might indicate passionfruit. Good flavor.

Can - clear amber pour - creamy texture and full body - lots of deeply caramelized malt character, raisin, cherry - back end gets a little spicy and warming - light hints of the foeder - rich and clean - I dig it.

Can. Misted pale amber with a 1/2cm white head. Aroma of peach, mango, pine that's a little cleaning product. Light bodied and clean to the point that it loses substance. Stone fruit, some tropical fruit, a toppy pine needle note at the moderately bitter finish. OK.

Very tart, more like a wheaty gose than a proper hefe, with a hefty dose of lemon acidity that overshadows the normal banana-clove notes. The label calls this a traditional Bavarian hefeweizen so something has gone terribly wrong here.
