Description
The original Sea Dog Brewing Co. was founded by Pete Camplin, Sr. on May 17th, 1993 in the historic shipbuilding town of Camden, Maine, starting with a 240 seat brewpub and kegging brewery overlooking the dramatic waterfall of the old Knox Woolen Mill. On March 8th, 1995, Sea Dog opened a second facility, this time a 540 seat restaurant and brewery on the banks of the historic Penobscot River in downtown Bangor. In 2002, master brewer Alan Pugsley and entrepreneur Fred Forsley became the new owners of Sea Dog. Their crew continues the tradition of serving great food in a great atmosphere and brewing a full line of handcrafted ales that capture the spirit of Maine's sea-faring history. Today, Sea Dog Brewing Company operates brew pubs in three locations. The Sea Dog in Topsham occupies a scenic spot on the Androscoggin River. The Bangor location overlooks the historic Penobscot River. The South Portland location is near the Maine Mall. All three of these locations serve a full menu of handcrafted ales and creative pub fare with a flair. Being authentic is important to us. Our beers are brewed in a traditional style using only the highest quality ingredients like imported English two-row malted barley and British top-fermenting yeast. Our English brewing style results in brews with a distinctive, refreshing taste and crisp finish unique to top-fermented beers. Cheers!

Bottle Pours a "slightly hazy very pale yellow" like thier other "fruit" beers. Thin quick ring of a white head. Barely distinguishable raspberry aroma. Flavor was subtle as well but a bit more realistic than the other fruit offerings from the Dog. Light wheat malt body and a lively carbonation. The best of the three.....barely...

Bottle Pours a slightly hazy pale yellow with a white skim head. Dish soap and light malts...oh and some apricot "exxence" Flavor was very faint fruit and extremely light malt notes. Some apricot comes back a few seconds after the sip but the lingering soapy bitterness really sticks with you. Light fizzy feel. Here’s hoping this "Sea Dog" doesn’t make it back to port for a long time.....

Bottle Pours a slightly hazy very pale orange/yellow. Small quick white ring of a "head" and a few spots of lacing. Tons of blueberry aroma. Sweet light wheat malt flavors with the fuit notes coming through a bit soapy and artificial. Light fizy palate. Run-of-the-mill fruit beer. ..yer welcome "bucky boy"...

Cloudy, carbonated look, with an ok head. Total blueberry smell. Sounds good so far, until in starts sucking at tasting good.It has a fizzy thin taste, in which all you can taste is a hint of blueberry and some doughyness, ending with a cardboardesque finish. Kind of sucks. I don’t see why this is rated so high. I thought that the Raspberry was much, much better.

The beer itself smells like raspberries, with not too much smell apart from that. The taste itself was rather fruity for a fruit beer, with the wheat beer taste going in the back seat. Pretty carbonated as well. Not really bad, but it is almost a soda rather than a beer.

Bottled (Thanks omhper). Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is apricot and slight wheat. Flavour is paper, perfumed soap and that’s about it. Watery, and too biting carbonation.

Bottled (BB 12/2007)
Pale yellow color, small white head. Strong sweet aroma of apricot. Dry papery, woody flavor, a bit of wheat but not much apricot fruityness. When it is very cold, possible ok as a thirst quencher, but this is not a beer for serious beer drinking.
