Description
The original Sea Dog Brewing Co. was founded by Pete Camplin, Sr. on May 17th, 1993 in the historic shipbuilding town of Camden, Maine, starting with a 240 seat brewpub and kegging brewery overlooking the dramatic waterfall of the old Knox Woolen Mill. On March 8th, 1995, Sea Dog opened a second facility, this time a 540 seat restaurant and brewery on the banks of the historic Penobscot River in downtown Bangor. In 2002, master brewer Alan Pugsley and entrepreneur Fred Forsley became the new owners of Sea Dog. Their crew continues the tradition of serving great food in a great atmosphere and brewing a full line of handcrafted ales that capture the spirit of Maine's sea-faring history. Today, Sea Dog Brewing Company operates brew pubs in three locations. The Sea Dog in Topsham occupies a scenic spot on the Androscoggin River. The Bangor location overlooks the historic Penobscot River. The South Portland location is near the Maine Mall. All three of these locations serve a full menu of handcrafted ales and creative pub fare with a flair. Being authentic is important to us. Our beers are brewed in a traditional style using only the highest quality ingredients like imported English two-row malted barley and British top-fermenting yeast. Our English brewing style results in brews with a distinctive, refreshing taste and crisp finish unique to top-fermented beers. Cheers!

12 oz bottle of Kennebunkport Apricot Wheat from Trader Joe’s; nose of caramel, butter, and apricots; translucent orange with a medium off-white head; flavor of apricots with a tiny butter (diacetyl) note. Without the diacetyl probably would be pretty good. Wished it tasted nearly as good as it looked!

Purchased as Kennebunkport ipa. Not very good at all, in fact it is actually a bad beer. Too much carbonation and no hops in a style that should emphasize hops. Red color and a tall head.

Bottle. Rich ruby amber with a nice beige head. Malty, pine, citrus aroma. Pine, malt, light spice flavor. Spice, malt, and pine lingers. Medium body. Not bad, but not very bitter. Earthy, woodsy elements start popping up.

Bottle. Clear amber beer with a white head. Big apricot aroma with some malt. Apricot, wheat flavor that lingers. Medium body. Flavor gets old and tiring very fast.

Bottle. Smells like pumpkin pie spice. Orange tinged gold color with a white head that barely exists. Near medium body with fizzy carbonation. It has the pie spice, and seems to have pumpkin. It’s dryish, and there is hop. However, the main attraction is the spice, including nutmeg. The finish is spice with some light bitter. Decent enough, and better than many of the style.

Aroma was pretty much apricot. Flavor was pretty artificial, but to be honest it wasn’t bad. Certainly nothing offensive about this beer to warrant such a low score.

Slightly hazy golden coloured body with a very thin white head. Aroma of yeast, wheat and citrus - not half bad at all. Medium-bodied; Effervescent feeling up front with some yeast and wheat most noticeable. Curacao and some light fresh flavours up front, fading to a mild malt. Aftertaste shows some sweetness, but mostly mild, run of the mill flavours. Overall, a decent wheat, nothing too special, but worth trying. I sampled this 12 ounce bottle purchased at Trader Joe’s in Tyson’s Corner (Falls Church), Virginia on 04-November-2007.

Light golden/orange, a bit of foam dissipates quickly...white head...aroma---blueberry cereal that sat in the sun too long...almost sour blueberry flavor, not too bad ...palatable...wayyy better flavor than aroma, it grows on you

Orange/golden off white decent head...very faint raspberries entering the nostrils....sour yeasty wheat creation...sour raspberries with an easy-going drinkability...but not too much in the flavor department...sweet finish...I think the raspberries had an affair with an apricot, then they came up with this brew

Bottle as Sea Dog. Aroma is hoppy with a touch of grapefruit. Flavor is hoppy, full of citrus, and creamy at the same time.
