Description
The original Sea Dog Brewing Co. was founded by Pete Camplin, Sr. on May 17th, 1993 in the historic shipbuilding town of Camden, Maine, starting with a 240 seat brewpub and kegging brewery overlooking the dramatic waterfall of the old Knox Woolen Mill. On March 8th, 1995, Sea Dog opened a second facility, this time a 540 seat restaurant and brewery on the banks of the historic Penobscot River in downtown Bangor. In 2002, master brewer Alan Pugsley and entrepreneur Fred Forsley became the new owners of Sea Dog. Their crew continues the tradition of serving great food in a great atmosphere and brewing a full line of handcrafted ales that capture the spirit of Maine's sea-faring history. Today, Sea Dog Brewing Company operates brew pubs in three locations. The Sea Dog in Topsham occupies a scenic spot on the Androscoggin River. The Bangor location overlooks the historic Penobscot River. The South Portland location is near the Maine Mall. All three of these locations serve a full menu of handcrafted ales and creative pub fare with a flair. Being authentic is important to us. Our beers are brewed in a traditional style using only the highest quality ingredients like imported English two-row malted barley and British top-fermenting yeast. Our English brewing style results in brews with a distinctive, refreshing taste and crisp finish unique to top-fermented beers. Cheers!

Purchased at Trader Joes, St. Louis Park, MN. Pleasant vanilla aroma. More vanilla in the flavor, and they weren’t lying about the hazelnuts because these are here in strength. A good beer.

Bottled. Clear pale amber. Syrupy peach aroma. Sweet with hard plastic mouthfeel, lots of sickening sweet artificial peach flavouring. No other flavours need to bother. Simplistic hard mouthfeel. This is craft beer? Frankly I’d much rather have a Bud Light.

Very good blueberry aroma. Low carbonation. Light malt in the flavor, and some honey as well. Reminds me of Town Hall Thunderstorm. Well balanced.

(Bottle at Delirium Café, Göteborg) Clear dark red-brown color, big nice tan head that dies too fast. Muddy chocolate nutty scent, also solvents. Spritzy sweet green apples and roasted malt taste. Spritzy high co2 mouthfeel. Medium bitterness. A bit sickening nutty sweet aftertaste.

(Bottle) Clear golden/pale orange colour with foamy, brief, white head. Lively, lots of carbonation, no lacing. Fruity, sweetish nose with distinct notes of dried apricots, passion fruit and pineapple. Fruity taste with dried apricots, orange, passion fruit and some underlying notes of bready malt. Not as sweet as expected, making the taste quite balanced. Rather thin body. Reminds me of the passion fruit softdrink of my childhood days, slightly drier though. Might work on a hot summer day, but to be honest, more alcopop character than beer character.

Bottled. A golden beer with no head. The aroma has strong notes of apricot, somewhat artificial. The flavor is cloyingly artificially apricot, with light wheat notes towards the end. The body is thin.

(355 ml bottle from Systembolaget) Clar copper color with a medium size white head. Sweet perfumy artificial fruit scent. Not easy to find either malts of hops. Taste is, well, not much actually. Some malts, some faint artificial fruits, a bit sweet aftertste. Mothfeel is spritzy with lots of co2. No bitterness that I can make out. I’m glad I only bought one bottle to sample, though it might works much butter in the summertime instead of the middle of winter...
