Sampled from a pretty 12 oz brown bottle this brew poured a chestnut color with a huge fluffy light brown head. The aroma is sweet with cherry cola, yeast, raisin and fig. The flavor is strongly malty and lightly bitter with bread, yeast, cola, cherry, raising and fig. Long finish. Medium finish.

Pale, hazy yellow colour, big, firm white head; fruity and hoppy nose (citrus , fresh herbal hoppiness); light fluffy body; beginning with a dry citric fruitiness and developing to a spicy, hoppy, long lasting finish. Fine !

Bottle. Brown beer with a biege head. Sweet candy malt and some fruit aroma. Dark fruit flavor that’s yeasty with some malt backing. Finishes dry. Well balanced and easy to drink. Masks alcohol well.

Bottle was a gusher. Huge off white head all over the place. Very thick and lasting. Aromas are soft mild woody notes, yeast, with some of that Belgian spice and complexity.Flavors are similar with a little more alcohol taste and more of that warming Belgian flavor. Soft and smoth feel. Slight bitter aftertaste. Quite nice.

Sampled draught at Stockholm Beer Festival 2004. Golden colour, lively head. Sweet and very papery with soft mouthfeel. Metallic finish.

Dark ruby color with a big off-white head. Aroma has malts, leather and fruityness: grapefruit and cherry. Medium-bodied with smooth carbonation. Dry palate with licorice and portwineous finish with some sweetness. Excellent balanced brew.

Draft, at the Maple Tree Inn, Blue Island, IL. It may not be fair to rate this when I’m still coming off a cold, but I still find it very interesting. A deep ruby color, brown head with a hoppy taste all its own. Beer itself is a light blend of spices, some allspice perhaps, and dried apple. This was poured from a beer engine, so not much carbonation, and a flannel-type mouthfeel. Found the alcohol to be very strong only after the finish.

Nut brown hazy, medium creamy brownish head. Aroma has raisins and grapes - quite soft nose. Medium-bodied. Fruity, malty, a bit citrusy and chocolaty. Finishing fruity, not showing much ABV, soft mouthfeel. This is very trappist dubbel-like brew.

Corsendonk products are in my esteem a nice mid quality Belgian brews. Nothing to write home about but solid in their own right. Sampled this one from a 12 oz brown bottle. I was encouraged that it was a 12 oz as most Belgians come in 11.2 oz instead. The brew poured a dark mahogany color with a s large fluffy tan head. A rather pretty beer overall. The aroma was sour, sweet and mildly spicy. There was a nice dark malt element and a hint of maple syrup and molasses. The sharp hop presence is a bit surprising in a Belgian and I liked that quite a bit. There was a hint of ripe fruit on the finish. My only real complaint is that the beer is pretty fizzy and that is a texture issue that I do not much care for.

Hazy gold in color with a substantial frothy head that leaves a nice lace on the sides of the glass. Citric flowery aroma. Complex fruity flavor that is sweet at the start with a bit of dryness towards the end. This Belgian is consistently available in my area.
