Pours a deep read with a huge tan head. Aroma is earthy and smokey. Flavor is actually kind of bland. I did not get what most raters found in theirs. Its mostly just roasted malts that don’t stand out. Maybe its b/c the beer is old, im having this in may. Possible re-rate, i’ll give it a second chance next year.

Dark brown and murky look with a small frothy head which quickly disappears. A weak aroma of toasted marshmallows leads to the slightly bitter flavor profile. The aroma promised more than the flavor delivered. Somewhat over rated in my opinion, but not a bad beer.

Dark brown and hazy, with no head retnetion. Nose of caramelized candy sugar, porto, and alcool. Nice wonderful taste of sugars at first followed by torrefied malts in second, with a peak of alcool warmth and finishing with smooth hops in the end. Vanilla comes out near the end. Rich body which also varies in time, keeping the beer interesting. 8-4-8-5-16

A very nice Belgian that reminds me of Rochefort 8 on many levels. Pours a clear red-brown with an initially thick light tan head that disappeared over time. Sweet candi sugar, apple, and vinous aroma characteristics. Flavor is pretty impressive: sweet fruit and vinous notes with a warming alcohol presence. A touch of apple peel yields to chocolate and yeasty bready flavors. Finish is somewhat dry. Nice.

Garnet highlights are found in this brown brew that has a decent mocha colored head. The aroma is typically Belgian with yeast, malt, fruit and caramel coming to play. The flavor follows the aroma with a smooth and warming palate that finishes dry. Not bad.

Bottled. Mid-brown with rich head. Mild and honeyish with soft, livley mouthfeel. Fairly dry with a bit of caramel. Gentle, complex and well balanced.

Very dark brown with dull red shine; dense creamy, dark cream-coloured head, slowly reducing to rim. Nose with chalk, brown bread, molasses, dark malt. Some sweet chocolate and mint, as After Eights. very bitter initial taste, burnt matter, sulphur, bakelite; sweet main taste that has also something definitely salty, resulting in a taste that has some unpleasant shrimplike connotations. Quite carbonated, at the edge of fizziness, gives a sourish edge. Well bodied, warming. A beer which has bitterness, sweetness, acidity AND salinity in it, ought to be THE complex beer of the month. Alas, it's so unbalanced I can hardly finish it.

Gushing to creamy, absurdly huge head; brown beer with orange shine, clear. Nose of molasses, brown sugar, nutty. Nutty taste, too, very sweet, sugary, faint wood notes; harsh, unpleasant bitter finish. Very high carbonation, making the beer fizzy at the edge of sourish. Very poor beer, IMO. Forced, crude aromas and flavours.

Cloudy golden, high carbonation, but small head - inviting aroma of apples, pears and candy (mostly cotton candy, believe it or not) - very light, and quite champaign-like - mildly sweet, some candies, light fruits, yeastiness, a hint of smokiness - the amount of hops in the flavor of this one throws me a bit - I'm not used to them so much in this style - due to this, I think lovers of this beer would really like Uitzet Tripel (also quite hoppy) - this is decent, but there are many belgian tripels I would pick before it.
