Draught @ CBC 2015. Pours very deep chestnut brown leaving some nice-looking legs on the glass. Smell is intense, slightly fruity and slightly floral with dark honey, caramel, bochet, raisins, prunes, moist wood, vanilla, dried pine needles and alcohol. Taste is heavy sweet, slightly fruity and slightly floral. Mouthfeel is thick, fat, oily, sticky sweet, boozy and near full bodied. Finish is sweet with dark honey, bochet, raisins, prunes, dates, moist wood, port wine, chocolate, vanilla, dried pine needles and alcohol. Crazy sweet intense mead. Cool port wine and date characteristics. Love it but wouldn’t be able to muster much of it before being overwhelmed.

Draught @ CBC 2015. Pours clear greenish golden leaving some legs on the glass. Smell is fruity with high quality pale honey, ripe apples, vanilla, cinnamon, pie crust, hay and alcohol. Taste is sweet, sour and fruity. Mouthfeel is round, tart, viscous, tiny fruit skin astringent, boozy and medium to full bodied. Very nice and intense cyser which is a style of mead I can have a hard time with. Bit hot perhaps...

Bottle bought @ Mikkeller & Friends. Batch 0609. Pours deep ruby red leaving some pretty legs on the glass. Smell is fruity and floral with high quality complex honey, dark rustic grape must, caramel, toffee, pollen, bees wax, moist hay, leather, moist wood and nose-tingling alcohol. Taste is sweet, tiny sour, heavy fruity and slightly floral. Mouthfeel is fat, round, viscous, oily, boozy, slightly fruit skin astringent and near full bodied. Finish is sweet and tiny sour with dark honey, dark grape must, bilberries, black cherries, leather, dried pine needles, moist wood, minerals and alcohol. Delicious Pyment where one plus one really becomes one. Delicious mead base with subtle multi-berry complexity added from the grapes. Very pricey at almost 600 DKK (iirc) but it’s a high quality product I would be willing to pay for. Cheers and happy mead day! --- Beer merged from original tick of Aphrodisia Pyment - Cabernet & Syrah on 01 Aug 2015 at 22:24 - Score: 9. Original review text: Happy mead day!
