Description
Since 1870 our family, the Meens family, has been brewing its Alfa beers in the traditional way. Alfa Bier's brewing process is still the traditional brewing process. The recipe, the method of brewing and the raw materials have consciously never changed, because we do not compromise on the quality of our beer. Alfa is the only brewery in the Netherlands to have 100% pure spring water from an officially recognized source. That water from our own source determines the special, pure and full taste of our Alfa Beers.

Bottle (bought by MoritzF): Deep golden coloured, thin foamy layer; sweetish, fruity (honey, dough, vanilla) nose, some traces of alcohol; sweetish-bitter flavour, medium bodied; quite full sweetish/malty finish with a distinctive bitterness; quite well hidden alcohol, quite well rounded. Very pleasant !

(bottle) Clear copper colour with a frothy white medium head. Sweet malty aroma with a little hop note. Sweet flavour, medium to full body. Full malts accented taste, initially quite sweet, slightly dry and bitter finish. Stronger than the usual Dortmunder. Okay.

(Bottle 30 cl) Reddish brown with a thick, brownish head. Sweetish with notes of slightly burned, slightly smoked malts - but never cloyingly sweet. Very full and harmonious. Typically Dutch Bock - nice indeed but perhaps it lacks just a touch of personality. 010104

(Bottle 30 cl) Very dark brown with a small head and a heavy carbonation. Malty and quite dry - no cloying sweetness here as sometimes in Dutch "Oud Bruins". Very discreet bitterness. Quite pleasant. 030601

(Bottle 30 cl) Pretty, yellow beer with a nice, dense and lasting head. Hoppy, fresh nose. Quite malty, soft mouthfeel and a decent, full body. Limited bitterness in the finish - more sweetness actually. The house-beer at Christines place in Nijmegen. 160699

(bottle) Clear yellow colour with a big fluffy white head. Grassy hop aroma with a touch of wet straw. Sweetish malty start with a faint and short hopbitter finish. Reminds me of the cheap german Pilseners from the supermarket.

Very pale lemon-yellow, clear and pearly beer; good snow-white head. Grain nose, hot wet malt as on a maltings floor - or decaying grass. Sweet, malty and grainy taste. Retronasal very outspoken flavour of restsugars. Yet it conveys at times a (false) dry impression. Hops are very hidden, but because of this last, they must play a role somewhere. Light, slick, grist-like MF, impresses as a mouthfull of bubble-bathwater. Dull, but in its class OK Pils.

Pour is a very pale yellow. Skunk aroma hits you right away. Flavor is very sweet and makes you pucker. Nice label, bad beer.
