Description
Stack Brewing was launched right here in Sudbury in June of 2013. The idea came about by Shawn Mailloux, a fan of good beer, born and raised right here in the Nickel City. After years of drinking beers that were not quite right for him and his friends, he decided to brew a beer that would appeal to casual and seasoned beer drinkers alike.

Fresh Growler from the brewery. Hazy orange pour, small white head. Aroma is super yeasty, sharp citrus, pear and vinous white grapes. Sharp cereals and crisp grassy, slightly citrusy hops. White grapes, chardonnay notes.... Medium bitterness, and slightly boozy. Nice stuff.

Dark copper slightly murky, with a small off white head. A lovely bretty Aroma. Slightly tart, earthy peach, lots of sweet barrel and woody vanilla. The hops fade and turn sticky and sweet. Nice mouth feel, carb is light, and soft. The finish is slightly buttery and earthy. Lots of barrel and slightly sweet stone fruit, and tart yeasty brett notes. The dipa is quite lost, but acts well as a base beer and accept the added flavours quite well.. Well done.

Cask Days 2016. Subtle pie spices, light citrus, and pine. Pretty much what i was expecting. Soft pie crust notes, hint of caramel, and cereals. Nice mouth feel and carb. Finish is lightly bitter with a solid pie spice, especiall y nutmeg, and some light pine. I didnt think the two would mingle well, but they did.

Growler from the brewery. Looks just like the original Al version of the beer. Copper, clear, big beige head. Aroma is spicy, the Chia is up front, very little vanilla though. Some earthy, woodiness, and some warming alcohol on the nose and finish. Bigger, thicker mouth feel, soft carb. Sweeter than the regular, and warmer. But not all that different from the original really, just heavier and more potent.

Jet black pour, with a large dark brown head. Lots of sticky, oily lacing, a really nice looking pour. Aroma is incredibly roasty. Big notes, or black tar, oily, burn Turkish coffee, and charred coffee grounds. Notes of soy, and bitter cocoa powder with charred grains. Mouthfeel is silky, and oily, with a medium carb. The finish is very bitter, astringent almost. Big notes of pine resins and oily hop pellets mixed in with a strong, charred malt notes. Zero sweetness, just a sharp, bitter finish. A nice stout, but a touch unbalanced.

Red pour, with a small pink head. Very tart Aroma, hints of vinegar, and flowery tart fruit. Lovely mouth feel, lively carb. The finish is slightly peppery, a strong fruity tartness, and more lingering notes of vinegar. The hibiscus is lost, and very faint. Incredibly tart though, and pleasant.

Aroma of pale malts and cereals with some hints of lemon and malted wheat. Body is watery, and carb is OK. Finish is buttery, malted wheat, little to no bitterness. This doesn’t resemble a saison at all, a mediocre wheat ale.

Growler from the brewery. Hazy amber pour, medium white head. Aroma is tropical, with hints if citrusy hope cones and some cereals. Mouth feel and carb are standard. Finish is hoppy, but leans towards the tropical side with hints of mango, and papaya, but the citrus and pine find their way through in the end. The cereals fade in the finish and leave a slightly sweet tropical hop character. Nice, but I’m not getting any signs or this being a saison at all. Seems like an IPA won’t galaxy hops. It’s good... I’m just confused.

Bottle from the brewery. Pours a slightly hazy yellow, with an ample white head. Aroma is a nice tartness in the form is tropical fruit, mangoes and some tart tangerineand lots of citrus zest. Mouthfeel is light on the palette, with a perfect slightly creamy carb. The finish is tart, with some vinous notes and more tropical fruit. Tastes like there is definitely some brett in here and possible some new Zealand style hops like Nelson sauvin or galaxy.

Clear golden pour, small white head, quickly dissipating head. Aroma is soft grains and cereals, the lightest touch of grassy hops. Crisp mouth feel, nice carb. Finish is clear and refreshing, barely any bitterness and a clean finish. Pretty good alternative to macro swill.
