Originally rated May 2007. Unlike all ciders I have had before, this one creates a crazy gigantic creamy-foam head, and gives me a few millimetres of beer at the bottom of my pint glass. Very long lasting too. Some lace sticks here and there. Its colour is golden honey. Lots of carbonation and decent apple scent, with some honey and alcohol notes. The taste looks like it is going to be punchy, but no. Not much happens. A bit of apples which disappear quite fast. Watery mouthfeel and fizzy aftertaste. Maybe my bottle is really old, and this cider probably does not age well. I much prefer their fruit beers, over their cider.

Bouteille 341ml.

Bottle: Poured a medium clear amber color bock with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light caramelized sugar with light dry raisins. Taste is also a mix between some light caramelized malt with light notes of dry raisins and light maple notes also noticeable. Body is too light for style with good carbonation. Better then expected with good notes of maple water but a bit too light in body with lacking ester.

Bottle: Poured a clear light amber color ale with a medium foamy head with light retention and no lacing. Aroma of weird hoppy note with non-descript caramel malt. Taste is a mix of weird unrefined grain notes with some light hoppy finish. Body is too light for style with light carbonation. Weird unrefined grain malt bill with not enough hops makes for a pretty bad IPA.

Bottle: Poured a clear light bright yellow color ale with a small bubbly head with minimal retention and no lacing. Aroma of rose water and light grainy malt is quite interesting. Taste is also dominated by very nice floral notes originating form the rose water. Body is quite light with light carbonation. Not something I would have very often but an interesting experience.

Okay white head and orange-gold body. Soft aroma of apples it seems, but maybe it’s supposed to be pears as the beer name suggests! Flavour is murky fruit notes hidden behind syrup and sugar. It’s missing a lot of things on its upward climb to greatness, that’s for sure.

Bought this one in Laval a while back and cellared it. Pours a dark black colour with hardly any red highlights. Big beige creamy, fizzy and foamy head that disappears quicker than expected and has just a little lacing. The nose is mostly raspberries. Probably juice, and some chocolate and roasted malts in secondary. Thin mouthfeel, almost watery. No alcohol felt from the strong percentage. The taste is sweet, but not too much, with the raspberry juice and the burnt malt showing up in the aftertaste. The flavours are not as strong as the smell. Too bad, as this one has more potential.

Okay clear amber body with no carbonation, decent pillow of head on top. Aroma is a soft mix of malt and fertilizer. Flavour is bitter malts with perhaps some hops in there to add to the bitterness; watery palate. It’s an awkward mix of not-so-interesting things.

Okay amber body with a decent pillow of antique white head on top. Soft aroma of malt and caramel. Flavour is grass and leather, with a slightly weak palate. Okay, all right, nothing more.

With a bit of force you get plenty of head out of this, a decent density, on top of a boring gold body. Aroma is grains with a soft hint of maple syrup; uh oh, I see it already, they’re cheaping out on the syrup! It shows up much, much better in the flavour, however - it’s an excellent blend between lager grain notes and maple syrup. It’s certainly better on the maple beer scale, and rather balanced in my opinion. Worth a try.
