4 pack cans from Noon Whistle. Pours dark, yes. A short, but stubborn tan head. A bit of oily viscosity around the glass. Can't pick up much smell out of this one. A bit of roast malt and some tart notes. Taste has same stout roast, but more tart than other BiB beers I've had. I think the blackberries were added in secondary and got fermented out, leaving some fruit tart. This is a bit of a sour beer, like an exaggerated Guinness. Nice if that's what you're expecting.

5 oz. taster at Noon Whistle. Suitably deep brown black appearance. Thin ring of tan foam. Main nose is bourbon and a bit of cocoa and vanilla from barrel aging. Taste is a little lighter on the tongue than, say, the Goose 2 year reserve I had before. Light carbonation lets the impression of a bourbon and branch come through. Alcohol is also a bit mild. There is a kind of burn once I finish a swallow. Maybe equal parts alcohol and malt, but it is not too astringent in the malt roast. Might not jump out at me, but it fits in well for the darkest day of the year.

16 oz. can from 4-pack from Noon Whistle. Fresh grapefruit smell after pouring into a weizen glass. Very cloudy yellow color, with a foamy head. Taste still has grapefruit juice up front, although a little less prominent than in the nose. Rather refreshing and light, like a radler. Low on sweetness, seems not to need much hop to counteract the fruits. A bit of yeast aftertaste.

16 oz. can from Noon Whistle. Juicy citrus and Pine nose under the pop top cap. The color is pale gold almost straw colored and very hazy under a very frothy head of foam. A little more bitterness right at front for a trendy IPA style. Then backed by some pineapple and resin. Malt shows through with very light toast, enough to hide the alcohol, for the first half of the can, anyway. Only my second in the Gummy series, but it’s growing on me. It’s appropriate for me while I’m sitting out on the patio on a cool last Saturday of September between the rainfall putting the grill marks on some pork chops.

Cans from Noon Whistle. Rather perfumy smell, with a side of pear and sugary fruit juice. Cloudy gold color, with a very thin head that's gone in a few minutes. Taste is fruity too, not overwhelmingly sour, except for a bit of fruit tartness. There's a nice balance of fruit juice, and the salt can also be picked out. A bit of sour settles on the tongue, causing me to curl it in slightly. Smooth mouthfeel is almost like cream. Really enjoyable, perhaps because I keep thinking of Strawberry Fanta.

Can case purchase at Noon Whistle, packaged 7/25/19. I was told this was intended to be one of their flagship session beers. But they got caught up in hazy NEIPAs and sour beers, so this only come out occasionally. Has a dried hop smell in the can, and a nice nose of hop bitterness. Of the fruits the guides to Calypso hops suggests, I get a slight note of pear. A slight bit of hazy gold color under a sudsy white head. A big bitterness quotient, with some malt that just slightly matches the hop. A good, low-octane bitter beer.

Pint at Noon Whistle. Big small of mango and guava. Followed by a bit of resin. Cloudy like orange juice, under a fine head. Taste brings up a lot of tropical fruit, with that bitterness and resin remaining in the background, then strikes at the back side of my palate. Orange and grapefruit rind work in about halfway down. Very nice. An example like this could get me to like the NEIPAs.

6-pack from Noon Whistle. I guess the full-top can lid makes it easier to drink straight out of, but it's a little tough to pour into a glass. But we did, so we can see the color, etc. It's a caramel creme color, under a sudsy head. Piney hop nose, though there seems to be some hop pellets along with a bit of fresh hop. For a nearly sessionable beer, it has a nice heap of malt to it. Earthy hops along with resin. Some pepper and citrus in the background. Very drinkable. I'm glad I got six of these.

Six pack from brewery. Comes in a can where the whole lid pops off, but poured into a glass to see its VERY cloudy golden color, under a spongy white head. The expected smell of clove and some banana and bubble gum. A little wheat spice at the back of the nose. Taste also has the clove and wheat malt spice. Very nice from the refrigerator. Somewhat filling. Alcohol is not overly apparent, but at the end I do get some warmed up toes.

Draft at Noon Whistle. Slightly hazy gold color, a bit of rose in parts, with a thin ring of foam. Smell is pretty neutral, but with a bit of white wine, improbably. But there is a nice light tartness you don’t usually expect of a tart beer. But then these guys do a lot of sours, so some lighter versions can be expected. Toward the middle, I can pick up some strawberry tartness, but it’s still well in the background. A god mildly tart beer.
