From a can straight from Illinois, thanks SterV for the tick! Initially high, beige-ish pale yellow, but loosely structured head, yet fizzing away like the head on a glass of coke and eventually vanishing altogether; hazy peachy amberish colour with ruddy hue. Aroma of blue plum juice, maracuja, redcurrant berries, lime juice, hay, old brown paper, caramel, honey, bread crust, nutmeg, soap. Lively fruity onset, lots of passionfruit and redcurrant, lime juice-like acidity but very mellow, medium carbo, smooth and slick mouthfeel; simple lactic tartness somewhat dries a caramelly sweet, even bit honeyish and lightly bready maltiness; the crisp sweetish-and-sour fruit flavours linger a bit as well as a certain soapiness and caramelliness while hop bitterness goes by as good as unnoticeably. Simplified, very accessible, non-wood-aged, probably kettle soured, 'basic' interpretation of an 'oud bruin', somewhat akin to New Belgium's La Folie but simpler, thinner and without the depth of barreling. That said, it does have that mellow, caramelly and bready malt sweetness positioned against the sourness, which remains altogether soft and superficial, but not in a bad way. Nothing too ambitious going on here, but well-balanced, crisp, clean and pleasant enough to drink.

Can shared in Maine - thanks to Duke! Pours mostly clear orange with a creamy, white head. The nose holds orange rind, leaves, pale bread. Light to medium sweet flavour with some gummy citrus, white grapes, melon, bitter orange rind, grainy pale malts. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with more ripening citrus, more rindy bitterness, some husky grains. So so overall.

30/V/17 - 12Fl. Oz. can @ home - BB: n/a (2017-689) Thanks to Ster and Trevor for sharing the can!

Clear dark brown beer, big aery beige head, unstable, dissipates quickly. Aroma: lots of coffee, sweet, caramel, lactose. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet, coffee, soft roast, bit sourish, mocha. Aftertaste: bitter, lots of coffee, bitter touch, some tannins, coffee grit. Seeing I'm not a fan of coffee, this beer doesn't particularly spark my interest either...

Can into a snifter showing lightly filtered very dark dried caramel brownish orange with sparse lightly tanned foam. The nose shows a yuzu forwardness with very subtle notes of cinnamon. The palate is highly carbonated and light bodied. Lightly tart but highly acetic with flavors of dry citric orange with a strong ginger-like spiciness until the finish.

Can supplied by distributor for review. The pour comes out deep brown, turning to nearly black in the glass. There’s no nitro in this can, but it still offers a deep tan head, just bit more bubbly than a nitro head that settles to a thin layer. The smell is pretty mild, not flooded with coffee or roastiness. Just a basic stout to my snout. The taste has a little more sweetness, as expected of a milk stout, where lactose sugar stays behind after fermentation. I don’t pick up a lot of coffee, perhaps because it blends in with the roast malt, but it’s there in the aftertaste. And a sweet, somewhat milky coat on my lips. The sweetness might allow you to try an ice cream stout float. Otherwise, it’s a good match for meats and desserts.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home nervously before the start of game 4 of NLDS. Appearance is pitch black, moderate consistency, large off white head. Aroma of light chocolate and lactose. Taste is pretty good, not too sweet, very much like chocolate milk. Good stuff

Bottle thanks to the Cruiser. Pours clear golden apple, large off-white head, dissipates fairly slowly to nice residual and lacing. Aroma is full of guava, passionfruit, sour mash and sea air. Flavor is light tart, medium salty, plenty of fruit and a bit of dust. Light body, tasty!
