Bottle at Fastelavn Smagning 2014 @ J&C’s beer palace, Jutland Saturday Session 1 - 01/03/14 thanks to an IP trade with James (jtclockwork). Black with a dirty tan head that retains well. Nose is big roast, spice, aniseed evident, dark chocolate, liqourice. Taste comprises nice roasty tones, spice, more aniseed, bitter dark chocolate, herbal pangs, toffee. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Decent offering.

Bottle, 75cl. More or less black in the glass, topped by a small, dense, tan head. The aroma has anise, roasted malts, coffee and salty licorice. The flavor is quite a lot of anise and salty licorice, with molasses, coffee and dark chocolate. Full body, some alcohol warmth and quite a lot of sweetness. Lasting finish with sweetness, roasted malts and coffee, and a solid dose of anise. Well, it’s actually a nice beer, but there’s too much anise going on. 140301
