Hope Devil Grille, NY tap ($6.50): Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is hops, bread, and yeast, simple but well done. Taste is nice and bready with a hoppy undertone. I was almost surprised by this. Had an underlying complexity to it. Some sips almost tasted like a Belgian ale.

Blind Tiger, NY tap ($7.50): Pours pale, cloudy, yellow with a white head. Aroma is green apple and vinegar... a very familiar aroma, but not so much in beer. Taste is slightly sour. Kind of tastes like sour apple candy, but more organic like. Easy-drinking and refreshing. Kind of weird.

Location: Draft at Cork City, 4/12/13
Aroma: The nose is clean hops, pine, some hops, but a little disappointing
Appearance: It has a clear orange pour with a small head and some spotty lace
Flavor: The taste is light sweet and medium bitter, there's some resin flavor that comes though
Palate: This one is medium bodied, it has average carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: It's decent, but certainly not spectacular. I wanted a great DIPA, and I got an okay one. I just had higher expectations from a Carton DIPA considering how spectacularly they handled the hop profile of Boat Beer.

Shaker pint draft at Jimmy’s No. 43 in New York. The pour is a hazed golden with a 1/2 inch white head that falls with splotchy lacing. The aroma is fresh crisp grain, a light citrus note, then moves to grass, hay and a really well integrated citric character. The taste is grass and hay upfront, moving quickly to a bright citric character and all on top of very crisp malt. The flavors are all crazy fresh, clean and crisp. The palate is light bodied with soft natural carbonation, and a dry crisp subdued citric finish. This beer is crazy drinkable, really an extraordinary beer. This is exactly the type of beer I am into right now.

Draft pour at Proletariat in New York. The pour is a hazed dark brown, with a well formed 1/2 inch light tan head. The aroma is peanuts, raisins, along with a lightly sweet malt and some faint roastiness. The taste is big on the peanut flavor right away, turning to the sweet raisin fruit, and then shows some of the roast malt towards the back. The palate is medium to heavy bodied, lower carbonation level, and a peanut, raisin, roast finish that lingers. This is very much a G.O.R.P. beer. Can’t say it was totally my thing, but it was well made.

Aroma: The nose of this one is roasted malts, raisin, chocolate, and some other dark malts
Appearance: This beer pours a brownish color with an off-white colored head
Flavor: Flavor-wise, it is malty and roasty, some chocolate and raisin/dark fruit sweetness
Palate: The body is medium, leaning a hint light for the style, with a solid mouthfeel
Overall Impression: We definitely got more of the raisin then the peanut here, which is interesting, because it seems others have had the exact opposite experience. Anyway, I thought this was a solid Porter with some raisin notes. It wasn't nearly as unusual as I expected.

Tap at Brewers Choice. I didn’t know this was the famous peanut butter and raisin beer and the brewer stepped away from booth and the girl pouring couldn’t be less interested. pours brown with one finger head or so. smells of chocolate and cola. tastes of cola, chocolate, coffee, maybe hints of peanuts, and raisins. its a touch thin and kinda just a regular porter

Clear golden with a white head. Aroma is fruity, tropical, a bit of malt sweetness. Medium body. Flavor is mostly run by the fruity and floral hops, caramel malt sweetness, tropical fruits. FInish is bitter and lengthy. Nice DIPA.
