The Belgian yeast overpowers the rye. Really good.

$3.99 bottle from Gilly’s. Pours a tiny bit hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is peach, grapefruit peel, pine, and some small caramel malts. Flavor is tangy up front: fruits, including grapefruit peel and lemon, followed by hints of floral hops and honey, then gets a bit heavier with pine. Not syrupy, like many DIPAs I’ve had. Not bad at all. Quite good, actually.

Growler from Joe Canal’s in Woodbridge, NJ. Pours a barely translucent dark brown color with a slight reddish hue. Small creamy beige head. Aroma has a slight roasted malt accent with a touch of briny breakfast meat and smoke. First sip is dark chocolate and more salty breakfast meat. Reminds of the many times I left the Pork Roll in the pan and came back to a slightly charred 3 inch disc of prepared ham. Yes, you can taste the smoky meat and secret spices. Makes me want to fire up the skillet and put together a pork roll, egg and cheese on a bagel. Nice job Flying Fish! My one bitch is that they got the exit wrong! The brew is labeled Exit 7, which is Bordentown. Park Roll is indiginous to Trenton, which is Exit 7A.

Bottle from total wine. Pours clear light brown with only a dusting of a head. Aroma is chocolate, caramel malts. Taste is black cherries, chocolate malts, caramel, but overwhelming dark fruit, especially cherry. Almost a peanut buttery finish as well. Quite tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Woody charred oak nose, raisin accents. Mahogany, thick tan head, good lace. Charred oak, raisin and elderberry. Medium body, easy carbonation, warm. More of a berry presence than I expected, but good.

12oz bottle. Month past expiration. Zesty lemon herbal aroma. A pinch oxidized. Kind of like a filtered US Wheat with some perfumey saison/belgo yeast. Not that impressive.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a dark red color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Messy lace.
The aroma starts with some nuts and malts. Then some citrus and piney hops contact the rest of the aromatics nicely.
The flavor leans sweet through a blend of the previously mentioned aromas. Rugged malty aftertaste with the same sort of finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonated fine, it moves pretty well across my tongue.
Overall, decent amber ale that I could come back to.
