Description
Lucky Bucket is one of Nebraska’s oldest craft breweries, we tapped our first beer in January 2008 with the debut of Pre-Prohibition Lager which, along with Certified Evil Imperial Stout have been stalwarts on taps and shelves across Nebraska.
From our first beer Lucky Bucket has always been interested in pushing the craft market by looking for the unexpected, from using old recipes and exploring forgotten styles, to trying new ingredients and experimenting with different styles.
Although there are some changes afoot we’ll promise you that you can find your old standbys as well as rotation of new options whenever you come by the taproom.
From the taproom, to the bar, to your back deck, at Lucky Bucket our goals have always been simple, to create high-quality beers that people can enjoy with friends and family no matter what life throws at you.

Tap at Dig Beer. Deep brown with lace. Nice maroon tints. Caramel, grassy, dusty, earthy hop nose. Citrus and fruity, a bit aged. Nice medium carbonation, just enough to light the hops. Body just a bit thin. Hoppy, like an old school Imp IPA or Bigfoot: citrus, earth, some licorice, caramel. Nice stuff.

Copper color. Very light nose, some caramel notes. Very weak. Light weak body lacking hops and not so well balanced. Non distinguished and boring.

Given past experiences with this brewer, I was expecting this to be complete garbage juice - thankfully, I am pleasantly surprised - it is a bit overly sweet, but the sweetness is clean and does not keep the pine and citrus intensity of the hops from shining here - there is a light gingerbread note that also adds an interesting dimension - decent.

I have no idea if I am putting this rating in the right place, but the bottle looks the same and everyone else seems to be putting their ratings here, so... - black pour - minimal lace - has some tart and tannic notes in the nose that are decent, but there are also strong aromas of DMS/boiled cabbage, burnt popcorn, char - flavor is sweet chocolate up front, as well as mild roast and smoke - later flavors of burnt popcorn, light DMS, light copper, mild tartness - overall messy and confusing - their lager was terrible and this isn’t all that good (although I likely won’t pour it down the drain like I did the lager) - I have one more beer from this brewery to try - I am not looking forward to it.

Bottle - fizzy, clear dark copper - nose of copper, grain husks, light DMS and a mild sourness - not promising so far - prickly acidity up front, followed by some corn, husky grains, light butter, light sourness - metallic finish - terrible.

I agree with Scott, I don’t get why the rating is so low... maybe they had it on tap??? Anyways, I like these guys, solid everyday beers at reasonable prices. About 400 yen, 4.5% bottle from Rakuten. It’s a lovely amber gold color, thick head and a mildly fruity aroma. Great flavor! The malts are balanced by some fruitiness and a dry finish. A beer that shows what a lager should be. I liked it. For a lager it is quite good.
