Description
Three Notch’d Brewing Company was conceived by three friends who value great beer and great times, with close family and friends. Each of us has a great appreciation for individualism, respect for hard work and earning our ability to give back to the communities we live in. We opened our doors for commercial operation in August of 2013 and work each day to Leave Our Mark on the craft brew industry and Charlottesville, VA by making great beer and collaborating with all lovers of the craft beer industry. Growler fresh from the brewery, 11/20/13. Pours a hazy golden amber color with a thin fizzy tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of candi sugar, bready malts, tart citrus and stone fruits. The taste is pale bready malts, candi sugar, apple, other mild fruits, noble hops and a faint bit of booziness. Medium bodied, low carbonation, decent balance. Solid tripel.

Draft at the brewery, and then at Sedona, and then again at the brewery. Pours a hazy pale amber color with a medium sized frothy tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of citrus, tropical and mild pine hops with big toffee malts. The taste is pine, resin, citrus, tropical hops, some candied citrus and caramel malts. Medium bodied, well balanced, mild lingering bitterness, mild booze. Nice beer.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a very hazy, turgid orange color with a thin white fizzy head. Fair head retention. Aroma of wheat, citrus, nutty notes, honey, earthy tea notes. The taste is wheat, strong tea, nuts, citrus, mild spice. Medium bodied, well balanced, high carbonation. Nice.

On draft at Mad Fox Oktoberfest. Pours a clear copper with an off white head. Light citrus hop nose. Nice blend of citrus and caramel flavors. Mildly bitter finish.

Growler from the brewpub, filled a few days ago, not shipped across the country. Pours a clear dark red color with a thin frothy brown head. Good head retention. Aroma of dark caramel malts, brown malts, mild earthy hops. The taste is caramel malts, chocolate, mild nutty notes, mild herbal, earthy hops. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, exceptionally well balanced and drinkable.
