The first beer from this brewer to impress me. From the 4/2012 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright apricot color with a small soapy white head that left a touch of lacing. The aroma was sweet pineapple, grapefruit, pine, lemon and sugar. The flavor was tangy pineapple, pine, orange, lemon and mixed tropical fruits. The finish was long and tangy with lingering tropical fruits, pineapple and grapefruit. Turns a bit dry at the end. Full bodied. Well done.

From the 4/2012 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured an orange-caramel color with a small soapy white head that left a touch of lacing. The aroma was crystal malt and vague fruity hops. The flavor was caramel, grapefruit, pine, crystal malt and a hint of orange. The finish was medium length caramel, crystal malt and vague fruit. Medium body. Uninspired.

Bottle - thanks to pellegjr. Pours a shimmering gold color with a finger of creamy white head. Aroma is soft; citrus, light tropical fruit, and florals. Really dances a nice line of a fresh citrus hop taste, but without any adverse bitters. Citrus, tropicals, caramel malts, and even some pine. Really quite flavorful. This is solid.

Cask version at Winking Lizard’s 4th Annual Real Ale Fest (03/24/12): The beer pours dark brownish-black with a thin tan head that recedes quickly. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoked malt and chocolate. Medium body with a smoky character and notes of charred malt, bittersweet chocolate and some plastic. The finish is smoky and woody. Decent overall.

Pours a deep dark brown color with ruby highlights and a smallish tan head that dissipates rather quickly. Smells of light chocolate and caramel with a bit of earthy and floral hops playing a supporting role. Taste is chocolate and caramel with a bit of ash. Earthy bitter hops mix with a hint of alcohol to counter the malt sweetness. There’s a hint of melanoid in there that makes it a little interesting. A bit of a lingering alcohol burn on the finish. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet slick mouthfeel. I thought this was only ok. It seems like a kicked up version of a macro lager with a bit of chocolate malt.

Received in trade from barak316, thanks for the opportunity. Pours a crystal clear deep copper color that borders on brown and wears a creamy white head that sticks around for a bit. Smells of citrus and pine, grapefruit and resin mixed with a bit of caramel. Taste is nicely balanced between malt and hop with a nice citrusy old school pale ale kind of feel to it. Medium body with a bit of residual sweetness, moderate level of carbonation and a lick almost sweet mouthfeel. Nice easy drinking pale ale with enough hop to keep it interesting.

Sample at the Columbus Winter Beerfest on 01/14/2012: This beer is a dark brown color with a medium thin beige head that diminishes quickly. Spotty lacing. Aroma of chocolate and malt. Medium, creamy body with flavors of chocolate malt and a hint of roasted nuts and sugar. Coconut flavor is difficult to discern but it is probably responsible for the creamy notes. The finish is sweet with a cocoa aftertaste. Above average overall.
