Nestled in the heart of the Jura, the Rouget de Lisle Brewery has been producing beers of character since 1994 with the purest respect for traditions. From childhood, Bruno Mangin, the founder, had a passion for beer. In 1990 Bruno and his wife Roseline opened a unique restaurant concept around beer and offered a menu of 340 beers from 40 countries. They prepare dishes cooked with beer. Their passion for beer being the strongest, they start to "cook their own beers" in their restaurant. Finally in 1994, they decide to produce a range of beers developed on the basis of their own recipes. In 2002, they set up the brewery in Bletterans.
In all, the brewery offers 13 different beers in bottles, part of which is aged in barrels, plus seasonal beers. The brewery produces 6,000 to 12,000 liters of beer per day. Fermentation is a minimum of one week then cellaring for 3 weeks. Then it is filtered on earth. These are unique and rare processes in the production of beer, which explains their quality.
(Bottle 75 cl) Pours a clear, warm golden with a small, white head. Fresh, floral aroma - very floral. Medium body with sweetish, soft honey accents and again lots of floral notes. Not a big beer by any means but incredibly elegant and quaffable. 231206
A light amber beer with no head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel and alcohol. The flavor is sweet malty with light notes of alcohol, caramel, and dusty flowers.
Bottled(330ml). -This beer tasted like something I couldn’t recognise, and it hauled on celery, gourd or eggplant. Later I’ve fount out that it was gentian. However, very odd and not too pleasant combination.
Bottled(330ml). -shared with Doggythedog. Pale golden coloured, small white head, fruity nose. Sweet malty aroma with mild honey hints. Flavor is quite watery.
Bottled(330ml). -Hazy lemon coloured, thin white head, acidic lemon spicy nose. Wheaty and acidic lemon aroma that is very similar to Brugs. Some artificially watermelon notes.
Bottled(330ml). -clear amber coloured with froathy white head. Nice roasted malt aroma, mild spicy, hoppy and slight caramel notes but for a 6.0%ABV quite weak brew
(Bottle 75 cl) Pours a slightly hazy pilsener golden with a small, off-white head. Rather alcoholic aroma - like a European Strong Lager. Fairly full-bodied with a marked malt sweetness. Almost no bitterness in the finish but a distinct alcohol presence. If I remember correctly Bière de Gardes can also be bottom fermented - I’m fairly certain, that this one is. 270706
0.5l bottle shared with ozujsko (thanks!) Well, after two stunningly bad beers came this. And it proved to be quite nice. Poured a pretty golden colour with a teeny tiny white head (if it can even be called that). Lovely sweetish candy/tropical fruit nose.... Great ! The taste was almost identical to the nose. The body was unfortunately watery, and the bitterness wasn’t big (or a major part of the taste, really)... Still, that great fruity/candy like taste was quite nice. I’d try it again, that’s for sure. Very interesting.... and my first "honey beer".
