East Coast IPA (at least intended as such) made in Holland; bottle from an Albert Heijn supermarket there. Thick, frothy, snow white, tightly but irregularly lacing, stable head, more or less clear pale orangey warm golden robe with fierce sparkling. Aroma of old dried mandarin peel, bitter honey, withering chervil and basil, overripe pumpkin, banana peel, moist cigarette tobacco, white onions and vague ‘puttekenslucht’ (sewer water) lurking in the background. Crisp, fruity onset, harshly stinging overcarbonation as feared, very minerally and distracting from the – admittedly subtle – green banana and apricot fruitiness; cereally maltiness, quite neutral and straightforward, phenolic smoky accent retronasally (almost as in burning rubber), but then finally some oniony and citrusy hoppiness shows up, adding quite long, spicy, bit earthy bitterness but not nearly enough New World fragrance for the style that was intended here. Drinkable, but far from memorable even as an IPA in general, let alone an East Coast one.

Bottle at home as oatmeal IPA. Gusher! Hazy orange golden with huge fluffy almost white head. Grapefruit, light caramel, soft grassy, dry oats, spruce, tropical fruits and lots of CO2. Under medium sweet and medium bitter. Under medium bodied, bit dry and loads of carbonation. Pretty tasty except for the excessive CO2.

Thuis uit een flesje, na mooie wandeling door de waterleidingduinen. Licht rode bruine kleur, goed beige schuim. Ik proef toffee, maar zeker ook rum. Apart, maar de balans slaat uit naar goed.

Bottle. Color: Ruby, off-white head. Aroma: Malt, caramel, hints of rum. Taste: Medium to overmedium sweet, malty, caramel notes. Hints of raisins, red fruit and vanilla. After a few seconds the rum comes in very lightly. Somewhat more rum at finish but still nothing more than subtle notes. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Ok bockbeer but not that special.
