Real Ale, a good brewery in the Hill Country of Texas, NE style IPA, not my favorite. I've got a 12 oz can of Fresh Kicks that was spotted at a close-by supermarket. Pouring inside of a snifter, I see the expected lemon-yellow body with a tremendous head of off-white foam, a heavy pour this time. I like the scent, tropical with a bit of dankness. The taste falls off somewhat, a little bland. Some lemon, hops, varnish, grain and bread. Some sweet, some bitter. Not tripping my trigger.

A golden stout. Is that an oxymoron? In any case, glad to try a brew from Real Ale. Enjoyed visiting their brewery a few years back. I have a now rare to find bomber purchased at the closest HEB. The bottle is cooled off and I have the New Belgium snifter in place. I concur, it is gold in color and has a curious, pure white head. I take a smell, chocolate, interestingly. The taste, well, I’m not sure of it all. It is a stout influence, sort of chocolate, some coffee and malt. A bit thin. Points for trying to brew something different but I’m not on it.
