Keg at Ldn Old Brewer's Yard. It pours clear amber with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is sweet, sticky, sappy, resinous, orange marmalade, green, damp grass and leafy. The aroma is firmly dry, bitter, raw, sappy, resinous, green, weedy, herbal, damp grass, boozey kick, leathery, tannin and warmth through the finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Old school, punchy and boozey. Not bad.

1/3 pint, draught at the brewpub. A tiny white head over a clear amber-gold body, scattered lacing. Inviting aromas of herbal hops and mid-sweet malts. Fine balanced flavours of ripe fruits, bread-like malts, and a mild touch of caramel. Lingering bittersweet ending. Clean and rounded on the swallow. Well bodied. Good drinking. (Covent Garden, London 02.03.2026).

Keg at the Open Gate Brewery in Covent Garden. Pours clear amber brown with a ruby hue, beige foam. Aroma: light sweet malts, some roast. Taste: light to moderate sweet with lighter bitterness, light roast, milk choc hints. Thin body. Again served too cold but a bit more flavour here, nothing special though.

Keg at Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Covent Garden. Pours clear yellow gold with white foam. Aroma: mild grains, herbal hints. Taste: light sweet & bitter, follows the aroma. Light body with spritzy carbonation. Served too cold, lacking in flavour. Not sure why I'm surprised.
