God men ikke fremragende øl. Forbavsende meget citrus i duft og smag. Bitter eftersmag, meget flot gylden farve, men lidt for "fizzy".

This is probably the most disapointing christmas beer I have ever tasted. I hope that there was something wrong with this bottle, beacause it smells like something I can`t mension on this page. Appearence and palate are OK.

Bottled 2004, 500 ml swingtop bottle (Thanks, JensenTaster!). ABV was 8.3%. Murky dark brown colour, very good & lingering tan head. Lovely aroma of dark malts, dark chocolate, Christmas spices, caramel and candy sugar, hints of cherries. Flavour is very rich & malty with some alcoholic warmth, spices and dark chocolate are present. Plenty of hops (maybe a tad too much?? - or maybe not) in the finish balances the sweetness nicely. This is good. This is very good. Maybe not quite as exquisite flavour as Nøgne Ø God Jul (at least it’s a bit different) - but very, very good. Also sampled vintage 2006, at RBNAG 2009 in Vatlandsvåg. Beautiful reddish brown colour, low head. Lovely aroma of sherry, oak, figs and raisins. Oaky and malty flavour with distinct hops and some spiciness in the finish.

Cloudy amber beer with small light brown head. I found the herbs very interesting, like having a "Gammel Dansk" with your beer. Intense complex spicy aroma that also dominates the somewhat sweet flavour.

Draught, 2004. Spicy aroma. Very dark brown colour, small head. Spicy, dubbel-like flavour. 6 3 7 3 14

Bottle, 9%. 2006 version - BB June 2011 - drunk in December 2011. Spicy aroma, hint of port, but by no means old-smelling. Almost clear dark chestnut colour. Tan head. The flavour is dusty and slightly roasted with a hint of sourish fruitiness to balance. Warming alcohol flavour. Quite dry, but well-balanced. 7 3 7 3 15

Draught. Anis aroma. Dark brown colour, sparse head. Sweetish, spicy flavour, quite complex. Aftertaste leaves a slight bitterness. Interesting, but in small quantities.

A very hazy amber beer with a small light brown head. The aroma is light, but sweet and with notes of ginger. The flavor is also sweet, slightly spicy with ginger standing out as the predominant. An OK beer, but for an abbey ale (which it is supposed to resemble) it is quite boring, not spicy enough and not powerful enough. I had a Chimay Bleu afterwards to do a comparison, and this one comes nowhere close. I’m a little disappointed - I had expected more.

BottlePoures a dark redish brown with a good light tad head and decent lacing. Aroma is a modest molassas, caramel and bittersweet chocolate, with just a little hops and alcohol in there. Flavor was an intersting smokey, woody grape taste. As it warmed up a bit more of a wine like, dry/sour taste was evident. Tesxture was a bit thin and fizzy, and there was very little bitterness at the finish.

Very dark brown with huge medium-brown head. Roasty notes in the nose with black malt. Some nuttiness. Thick malts and chocolate, some tar, hints of coffee. Chewy, sweet finish.
