On tap at the brewpub. Served a nice, slightly hazy golden body with a small white head. Quite weak aroma, grains and a fruityness does most of the job, and there’s a sweetish, malty touch to it as well. Fruity, grainy flavor with pale malt and some hops. Full to medium body. The finish is fruity with some malty undertones. The brewery says it’s a dunkel, but that wasn’t my first guess. Seems they are inspired by the classic Danish Easter brews, considering that, it’s quite nice, but I think some food to go with it would be appropriate. On the other hand, it’s easy to drink and sort of refreshing, at least if you stick with one glass. (080229)

Bottle, 7.0%. Sweet and malty aroma, brown sugar. Seemingly clear shiny reddish chestnut colour. Small head, almost white. The flavour is quite powerful, starts off with a little anis, then turns very malty with a good alcohol punch. The bitterness is a little rough, but all in all a good beer. Quite close to a German doppelbock, not among the best, but not the worst either.

On tap at the brewery. Served unclear, copper-colored, and with a medium sized, dense beige head leaving some nice lacings. The aroma was a bit weak, even when it warmed up, but it was pleasant. Sweet and malty with a weak hoppyness and some alcohol. A little touch of cellar as well. The flavor was more evident, sweet and alcohol-warming with dried fruits, some caramel and a little hint of smoke. Sticky, full-bodied and warming in the mouth. Some bitterness in the finish, as well as alcohol and sweetness. A well-crafted barley wine, but as the other beers they have, I think they are served too cold. Letting the beers, especially the stronger ones, heat up helps a lot on the experience. (080111)
