I hope I got all the info correct...had it on draught at, surprise, Russell House on 3/23/14
Very minimally hazed soft amber-golden beer with a small white head showing moderate retention.
Hops in the nose provide some lightly fruity and grassy notes, while there is a bit of candied sweetness, must be the malt and rum interplay. Thankfully, the wood/rum character is very minimal and tastefully done. Vanilla and honey malts continue to balance the fruity, mildly citric hoppiness. No alcohol or flaws.
Crisp up front, with a strong carbonation and medium body, the rum adds light white pepper and hints of butter and honey to the beer, tempering the brightness of the overall picture, but certainly adding some depth and giving it almost an English feel. Soft wood tannins and fruity hops never get aggressive and the beer goes down easily and flavorfully. Very interesting. Would certainly not have thought to combine spiced rum staves with a hoppy pale ale but it works just fine.

The label on this bottle says it is 4.9% abv.
It pours a slightly hazy medium gold colour with over a 1 finger head of foam but doesn’t leave a lot of lacing.
The smell is big grain that reminds me of an AAL. I truly can’t smell anything else.
The taste took me by surprise. Very hoppy and very bitter. Grapefruit flavour that is more bitter than I’m used to. It has an earthy malt presence that doesn’t seem to bring any balance. Some grainy notes now just showing up. Weird.
Lots of carbonation, imho...too much. The body is nice.
Interesting brew but not something I’d want to drink again.

Bottle @ Too many Geuze’s - only one toilet , Ulfborg 2012. Hazy blonde color with a small white head. Aroma is of malt, some lemon, grainy and smoky bacon (mild though). Taste is much smokier, lots of smoked meats, bacon with some hoppy background. Interesting , but I would prefer if it was backed by some toasted notes, different malt type and a bit less hops.

Bottle shared at JF’s, cheers Jim, 17/08/13. Hazed golden with a moderate white head that soon clears. Nose is orange, grass, citrus hotes. Taste is thin, light citrus fruit, toasted malts. Light to medium in body, moderate carbonation. Mediocre stuff, the blandometer is in the amber !

Draft @ Deep Ellum, Allston, MA. Served in a dimpled High & Mighty mug. Pours hazy yellow with a big soapy, white head. Aroma is mildly fruity, toasted malty and vague esters of funk. The body has a light to medium body with a creamy texture from moderate carbonation. Flavors of grass, fruity yeast, light touches of barnyard. A little bit of bread malts. Overall it’s ok and worth a try if you want a more mainstream "saison"

It pours golden leaving a hazy body and a one inch white foamy head in my nonic. The head dies to a centimeter and beautiful spiderweb foamy lacing clings to the sides of the glass. It looks like there are hops floating around inside the beer and light carbonation is seen bouncing off trying to get to the surface. The smell is predominantly hops with a slight malt background more so as the beer warms. The taste is predominantly bitter. It seems like malts try to kick in, but actually stay mostly subdued for the most part. The palate is about a medium with a moderate amount of harshness on the tongue. It leaves a dry and bitter aftertaste and finish. Overall, this is an average APA that I might come back to.
