My this is impressive! Deep black beer with a thick deep brown moka head, with a nice coffee aroma. Big roasted chocolate taste with nice hops in finish and a body that is WELL balanced and not overpowering. Excellent beer by René...Bravo mon grand! 7-5-8-4-16

2005B: Extra extra black with a huge brown head. Nice bitter chocolate aroma with smokey notes, and fine herbal quality. Rich cold coffee with bitter chocolates, lingering hops, and a smooth rich body, pleasing and warming. Mike’s tasting. 8-5-9-4-16

Blonde with a nice thick frothy head. Grassy smell with nice hops. Good bodied beer with a good balance and hops, very czech in style, dry and not too sweet. Very good interpretation.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-dark beer with an nice head with medium retention. Aroma is overpowered by roastiness and coffee, which I don’t mind. The taste is quite similar to the aroma, so again roastiness and coffee with a huge creamy body. Alcohol is very subtle with a finish that’s a bit too dry for my liking. Overall, this is another great beer from Bièropholie.

Allows very little light to escape its opaqeness that is topped with a light brown head. The nose is of a freshly extinguished fire pit, complemented with notes of coffee and dark chocolate, while the medium – full body is of smoked meat, chocolate, peaty, and smoky dark chocolate ending. Wonderful, if you love smoked malt beverages. Damn I shoulda posted this rating earlier as I sampled this in mid April 2003 and could have been one of the first to rate doh!!

Bottle: Poured a light blondish brew with a huge head with standard retention. Carbonation is average with a nice standard body for this type of beer. Aroma is quite floral with a hint of dryness. Taste is a bit dry with some nice notes of malts. Overall, this is a very enjoyable example of the pilsner style comparable to Pilsner Urquell but I’m just not a huge fan of this type of beer.

Bottle: Poured an amber brew with a nice thick head with lasting retention. Aroma is sweet with some nice hops mix. Taste is quite dry and bitter but with a hint of sweetness that is very enjoyable. Overall, this is very good beer and a good example of the IPA style.

Extra black with no head. Very inky. Big, salty, roasty aroma with light chocolate and some molasses. Fruity, whiskeyish palate with chocolate and nut accents. Quite a bit of complexity and I dig the inkiness.8-4-8-4-16 = 4.0

Original rating (March 2004): Dark molasses brown. Roasty aroma with Belgian milk chocolate, macadamia nuts…rich and decadent. Body is sweet, treacly, with hints of black chocolate and slightly stinging roast. Long, bitter coffee finish teeters on the edge of astringency. Black malt acidity comes in late. 9-4-7-3-14 = 3.7

Dark amber. Bright. Slightly charcoaly aroma with some rotten orange, lavash, sesame seeds - like a fresh bagel from Rue St-Viateur. Warm toffee malts - well orchestrated - fully malty with a moderately long finish.

Dark golden amber. Slightly earthy, limey aroma with hints of caramel, dark bread. Moderate bitterness, chewy caramel malts. Well-balanced, lingering tangerine, maple glaze. A touch light for my tastes.

Wow! Lots of hops and citrus in the nose, very floral indeed. Red in colour wuith a foamy white head. Fresh malts, and grapefruits complement the intense hops. This is brewed by Bieropholie at the Express Broue in St. Eustache... Looking forward to taste their new creations. a new contender in QC!
